So I'm a little curious on the topic of selling graphics for NP (more likely ETS items). I mean what would the risk factor be? Any tips for safe transactions? & Would I go about this here, or a different forum or? & Finally, what would someone even charge? I don't even know if this is remotely safe or if anyone would ever be interested. Let me know what you guys think?

loveee your art! i've never taken any commissions nor have i commissioned anyone but i think its pretty safe. try to differentiate the style to avoid people being suspicious and you'll be fine.

btw, you might wanna erase your username from your deviantart profile or don't share the account at all here. you don't want your neopets account to be associated with this site..

I don't think there would be much risk. Once you have 10 posts you can access the trading forum and offer to sell work there, or you could probably do it through the graphics thread. Each user has a trading feedback score so you'd be able to gauge in advance if they were reliable and were actually going to pay up. As far as prices go, you could just negotiate that with the person you would be providing the service for. You'd be able to go back in forth via PM on prices until you eventually settled on something. This is a pretty trustworthy community so I don't feel like you'll encounter any issues. Good luck.

I've bought sigs for here before and I think I paid a little over a BPB for each price obviously depends on the complexity, etc. though

I've bought four user lookups from different people and I paid in USD and neopoints depending on complexity. The lowest I ever paid is 3 royal pbs, not including bonuses.

Nice! Thank you so much. Did you buy them from people on codex?

I bought artwork from someone on here and paid 2m per drawing. I've never had a problem buying anything from anyone on Codex, there's also a user feedback tab on each user's page so you can see how safe they are to trade with. Shady people are banned from trading and it will say so on their page.

Yup, both people were from Codex. They were really good at what they do and I ended up paying bonuses not because I was obligated, but they were patient and understanding and I couldn't help myself. One of the layouts I requested was a gallery layout that may helped a lot in winning the gallery spotlight :D

that's great! for trading, would you just send your offer to commissioners junk account? or what's the safest way to go about that?

Yea depending on quality and complexity, like Keil said. Most people here have a lot of nps thanks to abrosia so they don't mind spending a lot.

either junk trades or ETS items like bpb or rpb are pretty typical

There are only a few precautions you must consider.

  • If you vary your art style, most people won't even know that the userlookup came from you. Evidence that you sold art and coding is hard to come by as long as there isn't blaring evidence like a neomail saying "Thank you for buying my lookup services" or a watermark/trademark tracing back to your main.
  • No neomails is preferred. Keep all communication within Codex. I remember stories of how people neomail each other about receiving gifts for birthdays to cover up selling neopoints and one small fuck up in detail got both accounts frozen.
  • Just check ahead with the buyer to see if they are giving the payment on the same account where the layout will be. If not, there's not much to worry about.
  • Use a commissioner account only if you believe it's not safe sharing the name of your main account.

I wouldn't on NP you can get credit here sort of, the trade feedback or people pointing to you as someone that could fulfill what they want made. For instance if someone is looking a sig I refer them to who made mine, but I don't think that person is active anymore they could just be lurking though.
