That's not really what the question means. :p If you're looking at it like that then of course eggs came first because dinosaurs laid them...

There's 2 options. 

 

It was the chicken if they used to have young via live birth. 

 

Or, more likely, it was the egg by the fact evolution takes place, and something "chicken-like, but not a chicken" laid an egg containing the first chicken.
