Or

How about we stop complicating what the term 'racism' actually means, and break it down to the bare-boned truth.

Racism : the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

White people can be racist, black people can be racist, Asian people can be racist, pacific islander's can be racist, Hispanic people can be racist. Any ethnicity / skin color can feel hatred towards another, or their own ethnicity.

I must be some kind of racist for feeling this way.

Or we can acknowledge that the meanings of words evolve and that its not something to freak out about. Like what does a more concise definition of racism do to hurt people? We still have the words prejudiced, bigoted and hateful to describe any of those things but the sociological definition of racism makes more sense than the dictionary definition because racism is an institution.

Any other time someone calls another user "fucking stupid" they get warned, consistency, unbiased moderating, etc etc. Sorry if you disagree.

I didn't call him fucking stupid I said it sounds fucking stupid to scream "Oh well you just hate white people" when they don't have anything else to say.

Just make sure not to post the word "fuck", or your post will be removed.

That would be 1/4 of my posts gone  :funone2:

What does that mean? Racism = racism. Racism = wrong.

It means that sociologists who have dedicated years to studying racism have come to the conclusion that theres a lot more to racism than people origionally thought and that there's a power structure involved in perpetuating the institution of racism and privilege. I'm sure if you google the sociological definition of racism you'll find plenty of articles on it.

But remember, only use the definitions that back up Mishelle's motive and not the masses of contradictions available in the field of Sociology.

When you don't have any more countries to throw out for your moot point just take sarcastic jabs at Mishelle. That's mature.

Okay, the topic of this thread is the movie. Discuss the movie. It's not about who is racist against whites or blacks on Codex or what we all define as Racist.
It's about the movie Dear White People. :p Let's get back on topic please!

I have mixed feelings about the movie...

I prefer superhero movies, though.

Ok.

I thought the trailer was pretty callous. Not subtle at all. Kinda like the later Simpsons episodes :(

The movie is loosely based on true events that have happened for example the racist party that they throw in the movie is based on the Compton Cookout that occured at UCSD where a bunch of frats got together and dressed up as ghetto Black stereotypes.

I found some of the trailer funny.  :lol2:  The "weed-man" joke was out-right dumb though. So many movies have negatively influenced jokes about cannabis, and last I checked the current year is 2014 not 1936.

Dear white people is being picked up globally and yet we still can't get more than one theater in San Diego to carry it #womp

At least I'm going to get to see it finally when I go to LA.
