The following video is what my Further Maths class and I watched in our lesson today:

Now, that's all fine and dandy, however, it's not as if we as a race can easily change the way we count. Not to mention that the arguments which are made aren't completely infallible.

For example, the idea that base 12 is, in a way, better because 12 has more factors than 10. That is indeed true, however, the same can be said for a lot of numbers that are bigger than 10. Ideally, one would want to make the 'number of symbols:number of factors:real-life usability' ratio the biggest it can be, whilst keeping the number of symbols low enough for us to recall and use easily...

Anyway, base 12 is supposedly better than base 10.

Discuss.

(If anyone needs a bit of refreshers on how number systems/bases work, it's explained in enough depth here.)

10 is better because I have 10 fingers. It's easier to count that way.

One of the worst parts of studying math this year was when we were learning dozenal numbers. I'm glad I'll never see this again.

But thumbs aren't technically fingers ;)

Also, what if someone cuts off a finger from your hand? WHAT THEN HUH????

I never learned my 6-8s times tables, so I guess I'm fucked. It would also eliminate my ability to do 9s.
