I stuck with Nintendo 3DS. Mostly because I don't play any other games other than Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Smash Bros. I'm not that big on video games anymore =/

If you're into serious gaming, then I'd highly recommend the PS Vita. If you're more into casual, light, laid back, family type games as well as a relatively decent selection of older games (NES, Gameboy, etc) then the 3DS is your best bet. Also might consider what your most of your friends have unless you're playing alone.

I went with the 3DS first because of Pokemon and that's what my wife had. Do intend on getting a Vita though.

If I could do it over again... would have gotten the Vita first as there's a larger catalog of games I'm interested in. Especially since the Vita, unlike the 3ds, is region free and there's quite a few import games I'm into.

Unless you're in Japan or Australia there's no "New" Nintendo 3DS available for you yet.

With the 3DS you should expect the usual catalog of Nintendo essentials with other titles that make it a great system.

The Vita has RPGs and Monster Hunter clones. Or are they more Phantasy Star clones? There's a lot of those.

I have both and certainly have more games for the 3DS.

My friend has both so maybe I'll ask him what he thinks. The New 3DS has only been released in Japan and Australia so far. My friend ordered from Japan and got it delivered so maybe you could do that too. He is Japanese though so maybe he has connections haha.

Do you like weeb games??? Well you're in luck because both of these consoles have plenty of those!! Vita games have some Pretty Sick limited edition items too, like the thing this dude here is wearing!!

(Just look into what games are available for each system currently and what's gonna be available soon and choose which one has the most games you want :p If you're still not sure maybe it'd be best to hold off until one of them gets a game you really want!!)

I know I'm disappointing my nerd progenitors because it's an RPG landmark, but I've never played a single game in the Phantasy Star series. And I think only once have I attempted to get into the Monster Hunter franchise.

Then again, somehow I've got this notion in my head that most "serious" RPGs require concentration and a time commitment that I generally don't associate with handheld systems.

That said, I don't think it's a mark against the Vita if it's got a decent library of RPGs - that's one of the few game types I play.
