One of the leaders in controversial Super Bowl ads has pulled their 2015 Super Bowl Ad:

On the same day it released its 2015 Super Bowl ad online, GoDaddy quickly responded to a wave of criticism from dog advocates and said it would not air the spot on the game.

The 30-second ad featured a golden retriever puppy finding its way home after falling out of a truck, only to find its owner has used GoDaddy to set up a website that lets her promptly sell the dog to a new owner. The ad seemed to be an attempt at satirizing Budweiser's highly anticipated "Lost Dog," a follow-up to 2014 Super Bowl favorite "Puppy Love."

or just view the ad here: http://bcove.me/evbeesgz

Do you think the video plays down puppy mills? Did you find it heart warming? What kind of ad would you like to see from GoDaddy (another one featuring Bar Rafaeli perhaps?)

Last years video (for reference of course):

I think it's hilarious.

Also, since when are all commercial kennels considered to be puppy mills? I don't think there is anything wrong with breeding/raising animals for a profit as long as conditions are healthy.

People get pissed over the dumbest things.

It's an ad created specifically to be aired during the Super Bowl =)

Lots of large brands (GoDaddy, Victorias Secret, Pepsi, etc) make expensive ads that some people enjoy viewing during the game. I've been at parties where people don't pay attention until the commercials, of course, a lot of people here don't get the American commercials in Canada so you gotta go to someone who has American channels.

Personally I think it's hilarious. Doesn't look like a puppy mill though.

Only thing that bothers me of this commercial is that she tried to sell a puppy she didn't actually have

PETA director Colleen O'Brien weighed in on the controversy with a statement to Adweek: "Go Daddy's now-yanked commercial showed that anyone who sells a dog online is a callous jerk. PETA liked that about the ad. The sale of animals online and from pet stores and breeders should be roundly condemned, and it was today. GoDaddy did the right thing by swiftly promoting adoption. PETA's message is that when you buy a dog from a pet store or a breeder, a dog in an animal shelter dies."

Yeah, because PETA will kill them...

Commercial kennels aren't puppy mills. PETA just thinks as long as they exist, people aren't adopting from abandoned, already born pets. If you remove the demand, the supply will follow, so they want to encourage people to adopt over buy new.

Personally I think it's hilarious. Doesn't look like a puppy mill though.

It's not a puppy mill. PETA (oh, sorry "dog rescue advocates") are claiming that most puppies sold online come from either puppy mills or breeders and that this somehow encourages people to order dogs online.

I didn't have any problem with this commercial, didn't offend me at all (I don't have a dog, but even if I did it still wouldn't), but I'm surprised their marketing team thought this would fly with all the housewives watching.

Poor short term marketing strategy and poor taste.

However, it is bringing a lot of attention to their company. Any publicity is good publicity.

Exactly. I just don't see how pulling an ad (that everyone has now seen by the way) would condemn GoDaddy in any way. It's publicity that went worldwide due to a bunch of butt hurt people.

As for the notion that it's supporting puppy mills, I can KINDA see where they would get that idea from but pulling this ad won't make what's already a business for some people any less popular. There is just nothing anyone can do to stop this business and like mentioned in this thread, not all breeders are bad.

I just hope this controversy makes people more aware, then they can make their own decisions about where they want to purchase their animal. There are a shitload to adopt in the pound that's truth.

I did even not think of puppy mills when I saw the commercial. I thought it was kind of cute, actually, but I did not get any warm feelings. The presentation was nothing amazing. GoDaddy just seems to be doing attention-seeking PR and it is working. I have not liked their previous ads and would like something different, but then again I am probably not in their target audience, whoever that happens to be.
