Okay, with me on this forum, you had to know that this topic was going to happen sooner rather than later.
I'm so obsessed by that show. I just watched yesterday's episode, and I was bouncing on my seat.
This won't be a spoiler-free topic. Well, I mean, not free of spoilers of episodes that have already aired anyway. So if you haven't watched the series yet, or aren't up to date with it, then it's probably best to avoid this.
I also want to warn everybody beforehand for my crazy fangirling. Sorry for that. I'll try not to talk about my crazy pairings though
I love everything about it, and especially the mystery concerning Harrison Wells. He's also one of my favorite characters on the show.
There are a lot of characters I like but my favorites have to be; Harrison, Barry, Hartley, Cisco and I've completely fallen for Leonard Snart now too. Normally I don't like really bad guys, but there's something about him.
Spoiler
Plus, after this episode we can safely assume that he won't be killing anyone ever again.
I love that there's a topic about this, because oh man, the Flash has been so good lately. My bf and I watched the latest episode over dinner tonight... the mini-arc involving Barry accidentally taking a trip back in time has had me hooked since last week. I too was bouncing on my seat the entire time.
Agreed that Harrison Wells has gotten really, really intriguing- he's probably the best grey character I've seen portrayed in a long time. One of my favourite scenes was the one in front of the containment field where Wells calls Cisco a son... mirroring the exact scene last week when Wells killed Cisco. (God, that was such a shocker. Had me going 'WHAT!' ).
Joe is probably my favourite character, but Cisco is a very close second.
Plus, two words about this episode: "Lightning psychosis." Had me cracking up.
Last week had my emotions going crazy. It was such a mindfuck. Those last 5 or 10 minutes, everything happening at once. I had to rewatch it again the day after because there was just much going on.
But Cisco and Wells... yeah, that was heartbreaking. I didn't know I liked Cisco as much as I do until I saw that scene. I was bawling my eyes out. And although I love Harrison, you can't just tell someone they're like a son to you and then go 'stab through the heart' and say "But to me you've been dead for centuries."
The parallel was a very nice touch. But, I couldn't get the scene from last week out of my mind which made it less touching. Maybe that's exactly what the writers want. To have an 'awww' moment be overshadowed by the fact that we know that Wells would kill Cisco without a second thought if he deems it necessary.
Despite that, I think there is a lot more to his story than most people think though. It's like you say, he's definitely a grey character.
What worries me now though is that Barry is now suspicious of him. Barry is a horrible liar. Wells is going to notice that Barry is keeping something from him.
Sorry, done now in my post. I hope you didn't read anything then that you haven't seen yet : (
I did, but it's fine I never really cared much about spoilers, unless it's something huge, like the last episode of HIMYM. I stayed up late just to avoid spoilers xD

Yeah but still, I should have thought about that -_-' I don't like spoilers myself, unless I actively go looking for them.
Man, after last week's episode I was thoroughly disappointed with this week's.
Spoiler
Not to mention it made no sense.
There was zero reason for him to be stuck in the past like that. Zero reason for him to fuse with his past self or whatever especially considering he saw his future self in the first place. By this episode's logic he should have already fused with himself last episode the first time he saw himself running by.
I mean, I'm all about time travel episodes. Parallel dimensions and what-not. Scifi is my genre.
This episode was an insult to every scifi show, novel, comic, etc. that's ever used the concept.
This was, by far, the worst episode yet. No, actually it's the only bad episode to date. It was just a cheap way to bring back someone they shouldn't have killed off in the first place. They shouldn't have been pussies about it and just kept ____ dead. I'm so annoyed by this episode I'm dang near tempted to stop watching altogether.
Well, I was wondering why there weren't two Barry's when he went back in time. Because there were two Barry's - kid and future - the night his mother was killed. So that did struck me as odd. But that fusing thing makes sense. Maybe they'll explain it later on why he didn't have the knowledge of his one day older self in the beginning of episode 15?
I did like the episode though. Maybe because I'm not as knowledgable about time-traveling ^^' It's a complicated subject so I just tend to go with the flow when it comes to that.

Spoiler
That makes sense. The whole episode was awful, that's the only reason they would make that. I got sad when ____ died, but this episode wasn't necessary. It just made things worse.
In one of the episodes, the one with Ronnie and Martin seperated, I remember someone (probably Harrison) mentioning different ways of time travel though. Maybe that has something to do with it. Something about fixed loops and flexible or something like that.
I'm probably just not as critical. I don't know much about time travel. I think the only other time I've actually seen time traveling is in Harry Potter lol. But I really hope you guys haven't given up on the series ; ; I can't think of any series that doesn't have a few bad/not so good episodes.

I have no problem with the whole time traveling thing, but I think that was an excuse to bring ____ back. Maybe it wasn't, but I'm not sure about that.
I'm not giving up, at all. I really enjoy the series and the characters, and it's the only series I'm following at the moment
Hate to admit it, but as annoying as last week's episode was I'll still give it a chance.
Can't really let one bad episode ruin the entire season.
Do think it would have been a much more interesting show had they continued from "Part 1" then did the time travel stuff in season two. Perhaps even do a version of the Flashpoint Paradox (save his mom, brings _____ back, etc etc but the consequences in The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, etc...) that doesn't get resolved until the season finale/midseason premiere.
Who knows, maybe that's what they're trying to get at with this (what feels like) rushed episode. Time will tell.
I AM!!! I'm always excited for it X'D But I'm afraid I won't be able to stay up long enough, because I'm already really tired. So it will probably be for tomorrow. The commercials in between are super annoying too when streaming live. They take so much longer than our commercials. Or are more frequent anyway. If the Flash was airing here, it would have only one or maybe two commercial breaks.
@AoKnight I hope that episode succeeded in meeting your expectations! ^^
It messed me up pretty badly
Spoiler
Like, I love Harrison Wells but I hate that Eobard Thawne. SO CONFUSING!!! I know they're one and the same now, but my denial is fierce. There has to be some part of the real Harrison Wells left. Because that creep is NOT the same as the man we've come to know as Harrison Wells. Seriously. I know it sounds crazy, but there must be something of real Harrison left in... I don't even know what to call him. But I just know he's not only that creep we've been introduced to as the real Eobard Thawne. Maybe he's a mix now? Maybe when he took his body from him, their personalities sort of merged too? It has to be! Because there is no way that is the same cruel bastard. I mean, the mix is cruel too, and shady as fuck, but not to that magnitude. He does show emotions. I don't think the real Eobard Thawne would be able to. I mean, think about some of the things Harrison(bard) Harribard? has done and said.
First of all, he's kept the name STAR-labs. You could argue that that was just for convenience sake, but I don't think so.
"And his heroics - though commendable - impede him from realizing the full scope of his powers." (I don't know if that's the actual quote, but it's definitely something similar) I doubt Eobard Thawne would say such a thing about Barry.
"Acceptance is a powerful thing." Maybe he's talking about having to stay in the past. But it could also be Harrison's feelings on having his life being taken over by a psychopath and his wife having been killed.
Same thing with "Home is where your heart is" and how adament he was about making sure he could bring Ronnie back for Caitlin.
And then there's Gideon. No one knows about Gideon. He's totally alone with that AI when he's in that room of his. So why does he let her call him Doctor Wells?
Maybe I'm putting way too much thought into this, and I'm pulling at strings. But... I refuse to believe that person is Eobard Thawne only.

Rant over lol
Heh. Yeah. I frikkin loved that episode. Definitely my favorite of the season.
I assume you already knew, but just in case others didn't... I really enjoyed the fact they showed pictures of Mark Hamill has The Trickster from the 1990s Flash tv series. The actual, younger him in the actual original costume. Really cool tribute, and made it that much more real to the story imo.
Made Sisko's comment all the more hilarious.
Spoiler
Oh, and of course when Hamill tells the younger Trickster that "I am your father". lmao Might as well told him to "Join the dark side" xD
As for the timey wimey bits...
Spoiler
I honestly have no idea what to expect anymore.
I'm fairly new to DC comics, and haven't quite made my way to any of the Flash related titles. Mostly focus on Batman so don't really have any comic history to back up any theories.
If I HAD to guess... it's probably something similar to Project Firestorm. Y'know how Ronnie and Dr. Stein shared the same body yet both were pretty much aware of the other? I assume when Thawne absorbed Wells he did imprint his mind (maybe even "soul") onto himself. If I had to continue guessing... perhaps Thawne would eventually run so fast that he ends up separating himself from Wells, and that the original Wells is the one we know.
Perhaps when the split occurred the technology of Gideon was split onto Wells' body instead of Thawne's?
Alternatively, again assuming a similar situation as Firestorm only in this scenario Wells is eventually able to take over the body & have full control. As Thawne is still a part of him he'd still have all his memories and tech and such. The original Wells wants the Flash to not only succeed to be the hero he is meant to be, but also to return Thawne to his home. Maybe Thawne knows a way to separate them and will on that condition. Perhaps there's an inner struggle and occasionally Thawne's psyche takes control (and therefore the body changes) or perhaps in certain situations Wells allows Thawne control.
But... I have zero basis for any of these theories.
All I know is I CANNOT wait to see how this plays out.

I've never seen the old series, but I did know about that It's a very nice tribute indeed.
Spoiler
And he was great, that whole crazed feel about him. And damn, he tricked everyone really well : p I was really worrying that Barry would have a really hard time to get rid of that bomb.
But then Harribard with that SPEECH. Sorry for saying this, but what Tom Cavanagh did there was like verbal porn. So sexy kqfksdqfjm
Sorry, having a bit of a fangirl moment.
Cisco would have had a field day with it if he'd been there when it was revealed the two tricksters are father and son. Like, even people that haven't watched Star Wars would have felt that similarity haha.
I'm hopîng that it's like with Firestorm. Some things just point to Wells still somehow being there. As ridiculous as it sounds, I think the taking off his glasses might even be a clue when it's mostly Thawne in control. I mean, he always takes his glasses off at the shadiest and most manipulative moments.
That theory would be interesting! Running so fast he splits. But yes, thanks to you I'm now 100% convinced Harrison is still there ^^
Have you seen the trailer for what's still coming this season? I think I must have watched it like 20 times already. Even pausing it every second because there's so much happening at once and I wanted to fully analyze it. The coming episodes are going to be extremely interesting, that much is certain.
So frustrating that there won't be one next week though
I recently watched the Flashpoint Paradox movie after finding out that this season may be loosely based on the plot. If so, the next few seasons may become better than any CW show has any right to be (except the Originals).
dsqkflqsqqlfj Okay, so this episode wasn't as exciting as the former, but the exciting stuff we did get was AWESOME!
Spoiler
Okay, I'll start with the least exciting bits first
Does anyone else get a Iron Man feel with The Atom? Just, that suit seems a lot alike. Not that it bothers me, but I couldn't help but make the comparison. Ray is totally different though. He doesn't have Stark's wit and snark. For such an intelligent person Ray seems sort of... dumb sometimes? Or lol, I don't know the word, but I had a lot of 'OMG seriously?' moments with him. Although that does happen with Felicity too haha. But it's cute anyway. I don't agree with what she said about 'He's like Barry but with Oliver's body' Nope, nope nothing like Barry at all. In my opinion. But he's okay. I was worried I would find him annoying, but I don't. I'm not crazy about him, but he doesn't bother me at all.
Then there's the thing with Eddie and Iris. With all due respect to Iris, I think she's being way too hard on Eddie. He never really interested me before, but that has changed now. He's actually the only person who doesn't want to keep Iris in the dark and respects that she'd be smart enough to deal with the information. Besides, it's not like she's never in danger now that she doesn't know. And the big baddie Reverse already knows what Iris means to Barry, so... I doubt it can get much worse than that. Eddie knows she would be able to handle the situation. It's unfair that Joe is forcing Eddie to keep quiet about it. And honestly, I don't know if he will be able to keep doing that. Maybe only for the fact that it isn't his secret to tell. Either way, my respect for him has grown a lot this episode.
Barry saying that Harrison was his hero nearly made me cry. Stupid fucking Eobard Thawne. I'm still hoping they will split somehow. I want to know the real Harrison Wells so badly! Because try as I might, I can't HATE him right now and it frustrates me. So either Harrison is still there, or I'm suddenly feeling sympathy for psychopaths. Not a good thing. But wow, Barry is so terrible at hiding his emotions. And it's not bad acting at all, because if you've seen him play Sebastian Smythe on Glee, you know he can be one smooth bastard lol. Sebastian and Barry couldn't be any different. It's really interesting to see the differences between the characters. Just watch the Smooth Criminal performance and you'll immediately see what I mean. Seb is a smexy arrogant bastard and Barry is so cute I want to hug him. I love Seb but I think I love Barry even more ^w^
Cisco having memories from the alternate timeline???? I need answers about that omg. And why don't Wells, Caitlin or Joe remember anything from it? I really hope we're going to learn more about it! And now that entire Team Flash knows dundundun I wonder how Cisco and Caitlin are going to act around Wells.
Also, for those who haven't seen this epic Promotional video yet:
I flailed so hard with that vid... it's so much awesomeness together.
And I LOVED that Leonard was in it! Yup, I'm totally hot for Captain Cold (pun intended) but omg how funny was it that he like fell over from the fire. It was cute X3 And Heat Wave admiring Firestorm HAHA. I wonder if we'll ever see those two meet in the show.
Then that parting line haha. Len always needs to get the last word. I think he's quickly become one of my favorite characters. I shouldn't forget that he was a ruthless criminal before he made that deal with Barry not to kill anyone, but... he makes it so easy to forget...
I was so thrilled when I saw that! CW has got to stop making it so hard to wait for the next episodes XD
Also this New Zealand promo for next episode. It's crappy quality but omg
Spoiler
"Why do you have my name?"
*screams* I totally flipped my shit.
The finale is going to be epic no doubt, but I fear we'll have even more questions than answers after it. Man that's going to be a tough Summer hiatus...
