A little back story before I tell you the good that happened today...

A very depressed friend of mine from back home in Wisconsin often posts how his life sucks so much on Facebook, and Twitter -- his problems usually have to do with a girl that doesn't give him the attention that he thinks he deserves. A few weeks ago he started a rant on twitter, "fuck you", "you're a bitch" ... 'I'm not worthy of you..." things to that nature. Later on that night I refresh his twitter feed, and see two VERY alarming tweets. I won't repeat what they said, but he was showing signs of being a danger to himself and others. In my head I think, "These are the warning signs I've been trained to see over the last 5 years. This is what a person who's crying for help looks like". I think about what the best action to take is in this situation and decide to call the local PD back in my old neighborhood. I'll spare you the rest of the details, but my friend got the counseling he needed, and continues to go twice a week. Today while just him and I were in mumble, he said "I don't know how the cops found out about what I was going through...or who cares enough to do such a thing for me, but I want to hug them". I feel like I've made a difference, and it feels great.

Received a $5 bonus today for some stupid easy Mechanical Turk stuff yesterday. Finally able to make a living off mTurk as well - support myself and the two most important women in my life.

Volunteering at the library has been great. Been there less than two weeks and I'm already treated as an assistant manager for their Amazon Sales division (where the library system earns most of their prices outside donations and annual sales.) The big boss woman is retiring in April and putting me in charge. Feels really, really great giving back to the community while using my tech skills to the best of their abilities. Plus raised over $300 through my listings alone.

Life is good. No, life is grrreat!

I whined to a friend about the fact that I can't afford a Nintendo Switch and therefore cant play the new Zelda, and he told me you can get it for WiiU and he offered me to lend me his so I can play it (L)_(L)

So the bar I frequent almost every weekend has game night events a few times a week, Saturday is Trivia and Sunday is Cards Against Humanity, and my team WON BOTH NIGHTS!!

Everything about my life seems to be going in the right direction and if all goes well I think I'll be really happy in the next couple months. Just waiting for that second shoe to drop though...

I volunteered at the library for 5 years. Easily the best place to volunteer, compared to other places I did (soup kitchen, mobile meals, homeless shelter, jr high school, etc.)

 

Everything about my life seems to be going in the right direction and if all goes well I think I'll be really happy in the next couple months. Just waiting for that second shoe to drop though...

You manifest your own destiny! Don't wait for the other shoe, just focus on everything being great!

 

My "good thing" is kind of convoluted and long and I'm not ready for certain people to know, but something that's terrified me for 8+ years is finally coming to fruition... and it'll be ok.

I got a new scar on my back, almost at the end of my shoulder, from a "micro-surgery" (?) a couple of months ago.

Every single one of my clients today were SOOOOO stinking nice. Two are regulars and two were new clients. All made my work day so lovely.   A nice reminder of how amazing my job can be.

It hasn't happened yet, but I haven't seen my bf since Sunday morning and I'm super excited to hug and squeeze him tonight (barf). And it's FRIDAY! I feel like this has been an extremely long week, even though I only worked 4 days this week. So stoked for the weekend, I get to be a lazy piece of shit
