Definitely the vibe I'm getting too. Very interested but I remember earlier someone mentioned it has lots of nudity? Nothing turns me off a show faster than gratuitous nudity (ha ha ha). The reason I still haven't watched Orange is the new black is because I tried watching an episode with some people around and it started off with straight up nudity. Awks.

Oh, yeah. A lot. I mean, it's not explicit, just some casual boobs here and there, but there are a lot of sex scenes, at least in the first episodes. But compared to the size of the first season, it's not that much.

OH, I'm just gonna answer everything 'cause I really like questions lol.

  • If I could be anywhere in the world I'd be in some desert Island where it's Summer all year. I'd build some shack on the beach and catch my own fish. Nothing really new, I guess a lot of people have the same dream. :/
  • If I could, I'd go back to 1920, just for the clothes alone. But my morbid self would love to witness the black plague, the 1755 earthquake or the greatest idea of the XIX century "let's take pics of dead people cause #YOLO #SWAG". If I could only pick one, I'd defenitly pick the last one. Pics of dead people, what's not to love?
  • I used to be highly addicted to tv shows, but presently I only follow GoT, TWD, Hannibal and Grey's anatomy. And I have no doubt that GoT it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen on TV.
  • I don't know what I'm afraid of, honestly. I don't think I have real fears. :/
  • Personal mascot? A wolf. I have this recurrent nightmare where I'm a wolf and I'm hunting people. It's amazing.
  • I'm the type of person that prays for a zombie apocalypse to happen. I'd survive it by killing every moving thing I'd encounter. I have all figured out, actually. Since I live in a rural area and have a cabin in the middle of the woods, I'd would just stock up on supplies (I know all the stores, and know which neighbors have animals in their farms). There's a gun store here for hunters. I know what the guy sells there, I know the layout of the store, and I'm absolutely positive I'd have no problems killing zombies. I'd have no problems surviving a Z apocalypse.
  • My comfort food is my super special spaghetti with mixed eggs. It's so good it should be illegal.
  • About my job, I'm currently on a break. Until recently I was making crafting things with recycled materials. I got bored so I quit. I get bored very quickly, and fortunately I'm lucky enough that I can actually take breaks between jobs. I don't like spend money on useless things and I managed to keep a good amount of cash from when I was in the military/police. And my husband has a nice job so... lol

Stop being so far away. I think we could hang out and it would be beautifully weird.

The shack on a beach is actually my "quiet place" HA! I had this counselor once (PTSD yo) who told me to imagine the perfect place to be peaceful. It turns out, it's a small house on the beach, with waves rolling in against old dock posts, scrubby woods behind me. When I think of it I can totally hear both the waves and birds. I'm pretty sure if I went to California I'd find this place. Someday. :)

I used to LOVE reading about plague breakouts. I used to do medieval reinactment, and my character was 14th C German-Irish, and EVERYONE tried to talk me out of the 14th Century because of the plague. But that's one of the parts that made it interesting to me, that, and the neat scientific things going on at the time. We once had to do some short blurb report on a disease, and I picked cholera. People were like, Cold, Flu, whatever, nothing too gross. And here I come telling people about cottage cheese. HA!

Post mortem photography is so weird, and oddly neat. The notion that the only times you got your photo taken were at Baptism, Marriage, and in death. Neat.

Spaghetti and mixed eggs though? Like, scrambled eggs in the spaghetti?

goooooooood morning neocdoex! here is my post and since I already have the award I don't think I'm gonna stick around much today.

I have a lot of errands to run and to try and not get murdered from the craigslist killer. Hope everyone has a great day!

nice try craigslist killer. Pics of rocket standing in a public area, holding today's paper, and a platypus on her left, and a polar bear on her right as proof...so we know it's not you pretending to be her.

Oh yeah! This is going down. :)

Love me a good questionnaire so without further ado...

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would you be?

Akihabara, Japan <3

If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future? If you went to the past, what time period would you like to visit?

Go to the future. Buy a sports almanac. Wouldn't abuse it though. Just enough to live relatively comfortably at the exact location I want.

What is your favorite show right now or what shows are you currently watching?

Just got caught up on Rick and Morty, Arrow, iZombie, and Falling Skies so kinda looking for something new. Have Sense8, CSI Cyber, Elementary, Metal Hurlant Chronicles, and Under the Dome on queue as far as new shows go. Still three/four episodes behind on Orphan Black and Supernatural.

What are you afraid of?

Living and dying alone.

What would your personal mascot be?

Koala

2f4df02745ea52b955844e09e299272d.png

How would you survive during a zombie apocalypse? Would you feel guilty about killing zombies?

I'm always daydreaming and playing out various scenarios (fictional and otherwise) in my head. This one comes up quite often during Walking Dead season so I've got several strategies laid out. Weapon of choice: swords (which I already have covered).

Only three zombies I'd feel guilty killing (so I wouldnt): my wife, my mom, and my dad.

What's your comfort food?

Pizza! Specifically pepperoni pizza. :D

What is your job? If you don't have one, what would you like to do? If you go to school, what are you studying?

Recently quit Walmart because... well, I wouldn't wish that nightmare on an enemy.

I'd like to be a teacher or counselor for high school students. Eventually a professor for modern literature courses.

Currently working on my Master of Arts in 20th & 21st Century Literature.

Nudity on TV is awkward. I tried watching GoT but I couldn't get into it. The first 4 episodes are just straight up softcore porn. I can't deal, I really do like shameless because they mix well. It's not overdone on the sexual content. If you haven't checked it out yet. Definitely do, The US version that is. It's on showtime but it's seriously the best show I have ever watched and that is saying something!

Every episode has the production value of a movie. It's pretty awesome, Breajing Bad is art.

That's... not exactly a compelling argument, though. Sure, it looks awesome, but why is the show "art" in the long run? Is the subject matter interesting? Are the characters relatable? C'mon man.

The story telling in breaking bad is incredible. Visually also very satisfying. The first time I got goosebumps from the show

Spoiler

Sure sometimes it's slow moving but it just picks back up. The visuals, story telling. and acting are just brilliant. Who doesn't like the Star Trek rant in season 5? haha

Haha my mom is cool on nudity as long as it's not over glorified. GoT is one I wouldn't watch with her because there is just so much and it doesn't add to the story telling. She does love Shameless! She's pretty awesome.

I like how you have all this regular stuff in there, and buried in the middle is this intensely personal thing. Small sentence, succinct, and so so powerful. I think it's  a fear that most people have. Even people who like to be alone don't want to be lonely. And people with tons of people around them can feel alone, like no one really connects with them truly. It's a well-known human need to be connected to people, and honestly I think forums and games and other internet things are good for it. I was intensely alone when I moved to California. I lived with my boyfriend, but his friends were his and all mine were too far away. I started playing games and living in forums, and it honestly sustained me socially, until that relationship ended and I moved back home. I ended up marrying someone I met online during that time. If that ramble has any point, it's, everyone feels alone, and I wish you didn't right now, but don't let the fear turn into a prophecy. Put yourself in situations where you'll interact with people you know. You might not meet the love of your life, but relationship hopping isn't a bad thing either.

Are you studying to be a counselor or teacher now? It is really interesting and rewarding (both the study and the job) even when you want to pull your hair out and bury students in the greenspace behind the gym. :D

What kind of modern lit? I didn't get much past the English in high school, though I love reading. I took a Bio path instead.

HA That's why I got behind on it. I LOVE medieval fighting. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. But I had a roommate move in and I just CANNOT watch it with him in the house. Just. No. He stays in his room too. But. No. Nope. Creeps me the hell out. I do need to get back into it though. Oh, the books though. I remember thinking one was crap, but then there are moments like the sea battle, and I literally freaking cried it was so awesome. I wept tears of piratical fiery joy.

That's cool. My parents are fine with it as well (they would not have watched all five seasons of GoT otherwise), it's just watching what's pretty much porn with them there. Weird.

Oh, Breaking Bad is brilliant! They do a very good job in portraying the struggles of Walter White and his family in a realistic manner, even though not everything is 100% realistic. Seriously every character grows through so much growth. You see especially Walt and Jessie transform completely, both looks and personality, and they're two different people in the end. The show has a great balance between humour and seriousness and so so sooo much stuff/clues to find and observe. The plot builds up like crazy keeping you on the edge of your seat every episode again. And the cinematography is amaaazing.

THANK YOU. +Rep

Not to say anything against GoT because I haven't seen it, but when nudity is so prevalent and sex scenes are so explicit that it basically feels like softcore porn then I can't deal. Also it's just....weird...I can't watch it with people without it being weird but watching it on your own feels like a bad idea when you have roommates or family who might walk in at any moment and misunderstand.

Oooh more shows I want to watch but am behind on. Is Flash only on Netflix or do they show it on regular TV too? (I don't have TV, just Netflix). I hear it's really good at least. Man. Can I just quit grad school and watch TV all the time? I need a job that lets me watch tv. I was never big on TV, except for Buffy and Star Trek, but man, maybe it's a function of getting older? DO you guys watch MORE tv now than when you were young?

I presume most of you are old fogeys like me, late 20s at least. I hope. HA

Thanks. Right now I'm doing okay on the social thing.

My wife is my BFF, but at the back of my mind I always fear she'll leave me for someone better.

Then I spend so much time on Codex as the people here are 1000x more awesome than the locals (to say the least).

Ultimately working towards getting my PhD so I can be a professor. I can do tutoring and substitute for high school and younger, but my car recently died so I'm limited to which schools I can visit any given day. When money allows though I'll take the certificate exam to get my teaching license.

I assume most of my classes my first few years will be selected for me, but when I get more freedom I'd do something more along the lines of steampunk, scifi/fantasy, etc.
