I'm on a Mac, version 10.10.3 idk if that is important.

(Also sorry if this is not the right thread to post in. I made this account to ask this question.)

I just want to slightly alter my IP address, keep it in the same region. Is there a way to do this? I do not want to use a proxy. I googled this and am having trouble finding an answer.

Sorry again if this is not the correct thread!

If you don't want to use a proxy, all I can think of is calling your ISP and asking them. There are proxy extensions for browsers though, which make the proxies easier. Hola Better Internet is one, it's a chrome extension, but it goes by country. So you can select the US (lets say), but you won't be able to select a state.

Here's a list of extensions for internet broswers like that:

Couldn't you just unplug your internet for a while?

I was about to ask how that would change their IP, when I realized that it is possible to be un-IP banned from neo after a while.

Thank you so much Satsuki. I am trying tunnelbear right now as a chrome extension, but it probably is not a longterm solution.

I also thought my IP ban would end, but it has been a few weeks and still nothing.

Does "unplugging" my internet change my IP address?

I think it depends on what kind of IP you have? Like if you have a static one, you should be able to unplug it for like 10 minutes or something and it'll change.

Almost correct, but your IP needs to be Dynamic, I believe. So yeah, if you have a Dynamic IP assigned by your ISP, generally turning the modem off for a couple of minutes and rebooting it will assign you a new one.

Or he could just use a VPN, There's a few free ones that do exist or he can buy a internetprivateaccess account for 6/7$ a month.

Hotspot Shield is free, CyberGhost is free (Make sure you don't install their stupid offers with the install and you should be completely safe)

There are probably cheaper VPNS out there if you want to go paid but I prefer IPA for the no logging.

That's totally the word I meant. Internet is like math with words instead of numbers to me.
