The Assassination Game
Who is Codex' most inconspicuous murderer?

~ Some rules may change up until the start because I'm still figuring this stuff out ~

In this game, you must kill your fellow forummembers by posting. There is a set list of candidates - so you'll have to explicitly join - who all get the username of a member PM'ed when the games begin. The username you receive is your target.

To kill a target, you must:

• post directly after them
• there can be no posts of other alive participants after their posts for 30 minutes
• your assassination attempt cannot be a reply to a post made before the start of the game

When 30 minutes have passed, and there were no posts after your own, you must PM your victim and me in the CC. When I confirm the kill, you have succesfully assassinated your target. Your target must then give you the name of their target.

Examples when an assassination is succesful:

• Gandalf posts something about kittens. Snape posts directly after Gandalf, his target. 30 minutes pass and no one else has replied to the thread. Gandalf is dead!
• Gandalf posts something about kittens. Snape posts directly after Gandalf, his target. Katniss posts something about dogs. Katniss is however not a player in the game, so her post doesn't count. 30 minutes have passed and no other player of the game has replied after Snape. Gandalf is dead!

Examples when an assassination is unsuccesful:

• Gandalf posts something about kittens. Snape posts directly after Gandalf, his target. Sherlock joins the conversation and posts after Snape within 30 minutes. Darnit! Gandalf lives.
• Gandalf posts something about kittens in a hidden forum (like private+). Snape posts directly after Gandalf. Snape can wait 365 days for all I care, but Gandalf lives to see another day.
• The Doctor posts something about Harriet Jones. Snape posts directly after the Doctor. The Doctor is however not Snape's target - Gandalf is. The Doctor lives to see another day.
• Gandalf posted something about kittens in March. The game starts somewhere in August. Snape posts directly after Gandalf. Gandalf's post however is invalid, since it was made before the game. Gandalf lives!

When an assassination is succesful, you must PM your target with the proof that you killed them. Your victim must then send you the username of his target: that will be your next target.

Example: Snape succesfully kills Gandalf. He PMs Gandalf with a link to the crimescene (the post which killed Gandalf), referring to the timestamps as proof. Gandalf then replies with the name of his target - The Doctor. Snape must now kill The Doctor.

Additional rules
In this game you can't be a camper. Don't go hiding and not post anything.

• You must post at least twice everyday in a non-hidden forum
• If you fail to post twice within 24 hours, you are eliminated. Your killer will receive your target.
• You cannot tell people you're already dead
• If you kill your target with a gif related to that user, you get a bonus point.
• Every PM you send in regards to killing must include me, the gamemaster, as a CC.
• This topic is a safehaven
• You cannot prevent your own murder by posting after your killer!

Everyday I will post an update with how many kills have already been made (not who have been killed, for that remains a secret).

After a 2 weeks or whenever everyone except one assassin is dead, the game ends. The kills will then be revealed along with the winner(s)! If there are multiple survivor, the assassin with the most kills is the winner.

Omg this game again It fucked up my whole sleep pattern last year (and it's still fucked up to this day), but at least I won. I can't participate this year though because of exams  Good luck to all the participants!

If we killed our target with a gif/image/.. that was associated with the target, we got bonus points. For example I remember I killed @anewvision with a gif of Pusheen the cat that was thrown away

Yes, the PM comes after the kill is succesful. The person will then be dead exactly 24 hours after the attempt was made. If there was an on-going attempt from the victim, that kill will not be valid

(example: Gandalf attempts to kill the Doctor at the 1st of September at 11:59 AM NST and succeeds; The Doctor dies 2nd of September at 11:59 AM NST. The Doctor placed an attempt on Sherlock at 13:23 NST the 1st of September; this kill would be completed 2nd of September 13:23 NST. However, The Doctor is already ~ an hour and a half dead by then.

 

Yes, you will know who is participating, as all applications will be done here publicly.

 

I'm questioning my own rule of 'dead people are witnesses' though, now that I'm really thinking it through because of your question. The real-life version does include dead people as witnesses, but I'm afraid on the forum-version it may be too much power. Anyone any thought? I might rewrite that rule.

 

And yes, you can post after someone to stop them from killing, thus endangering yourself (given you're still alive) of being killed.

I think last time they had to quote and post directly after the person's post within like 10-15 minutes? And then get the kill confirmed by whoever was in charge.

I just lurked last time lol so not 100% but it was something like that
