Weekly NFL Prediction Contest

 

 

Starts: Week 1 of the NFL Season (September 10th) and continues weekly until Week 17 (January 3rd)

Each week in the OP I will post the NFL schedule. You can highlight my list and either post your selections in the thread or PM me the teams you think will win each game. Selections are to be made each week before THURSDAY for all games to count. If you miss the Thursday games, you can still get your picks in before 1 PM EST on Sunday. It would probably be easiest if you just chose to bold or underline your selections. There will be a prize each week to the winner, and I will keep a cumulative total of correct predictions all season long and award a big prize at the end. If the mods have an issue with this let me know (like if it needs to be moved to Sports), or if there is anything I have left un-addressed, feel free to chime in. Here is the 2014 Contest for those who are interested.

 

I will also ask you to predict the total combined scores in the Monday Night Football game so that we can use that as a tiebreaker. I realize not everyone is an NFL fan, but that is the beauty of this competition, as all you are doing is picking a team to win and you don't have to really know anything else about sports,football, etc. The competition is open to anyone, and if you wish to be eligible for the Grand Prize at the end, I suggest you start participating now and remain active throughout the season. Anyone who edits their picks after the games have started will be DISQUALIFIED.

I also think that I will be able to give out awards this season (pending mod approval). Post or PM to donate prizes. @Rocket and I will be handling the weekly prizes, and then we will have a stockpile of items we can award at the end of the year. It would be cool to participate in this, but I have some questions to say before:

 

• Why call "football" to a game mostly played with your hands? Don't you guys know there's already a real football game? Played with FEET? (I know why, so please just let this one pass to make me happy for entertainment purposes)
• I don't understand the score system. We only give scores to the last ones on the list? ("What will be the total combined score of the Vikings-49ers game?") And what should be the range of that said scores?
• If I get addicted to this, will I have any monetary compensation (I have three kids to feed)?
• Can someone call be dumb stupid bitch for not knowing the basics of a foreign and mistakenly named game?

2) You are providing a score to the final game that way if there is a tie, I know who to give the weekly prize to. Really, you can follow suit like everyone else has done, and bold or underline the team you think will win the matchup listed. There are normally ~16 games per week, so you can get up to 16 points if you get every team correct.

 

3) If you get addicted, that is a good and a bad thing. The bad thing is, it only lasts until January. The good thing is, it will start back up each September. The overall winner will receive a prize worth roughly 10-20 million, if you'd like to trade that for galaxy bucks. It is really simple and doesn't take much time to do each week.

 

4) I will not call you those derogatory names because I think you're pretty awesome.

Nope. You can follow the scores on NFL or ESPN website, but I will be calculating your individual score each week (but feel free to check behind me) but otherwise you don't have to watch a game all year.

You're good.There is normally one game each week on Thursday, then the rest are on Sunday and then there's one on Monday night. I normally post the new schedule on Tuesday, so you'll have two days to make picks. I am posting this early though because I am going out of town for Labor Day, and because I am excited.
