I know that we have a Neocodex Minecraft Server screenshots thread...but not everything we do that we may find interesting involves a build or needing to share images (and not all of us keep detailed blogs of our Minecraft lives like @Alexiel does for whatever server it is that he has been most active on)...so I thought that I would start this thread instead.

 

Today, I took a break from building at my Mushroom Island base, and took off exploring: laden with plenty of baked potatoes for sustenance, I swam for a significant distance from  where I live in search of somewhere with sheep, as I needed to pen some in and dye them to have a source of black and purple wool. I first came across a Birch Forest island, and then a Plains island (the latter of which was especially awesome in that I was able for the first time since joining the server to harvest some pumpkins!). Aside from that, the Plains island was remarkable in that the ONLY animals inhabiting it happened to be horses and a single donkey. Finally, however, I swam away from there and located some sheep in an Ice Plains biome! Victory at last, though I know that I will set forth in search of more things soon.

This story isn't so much about on-server explorations, but one of Admin-ly troubles.

 

Ok, so, for the most part, today on the server has been pretty productive for me. I managed to get my chamber of creepy shit made, accompanied by armour stands containing the heads of regular players on the server. Much amuse.

 

However, the days session on the server hasn't all been smooth sailing. I am working with @Kettai to make an arena of sorts, namely a PvP archery arena that we will be releasing soon for a contest or two. I wanted to keep PvP disabled for the entire server region except for the Archery area. Turns out, that's still quite complicated even WITH WorldGuard and WorldEdit installed.

 

Took me retarting the server numerous times, annoying the users a bit because of it, a lot of stuffing around with the server properties, but I eventually got it done! YAY ME.

 

So now, we have a fully fledged PvP arena for having some REAL fun in xD

My day wasn't very exciting, back and forth between home and the planned vaca house on the public mushie island.  Tomorrow may be the same because I'm not really happy with what I've got so far... but that's half the fun of building a new house.

I really LOVE your build out there, Chameleon!!! OMG you have such a perfect view, too!

 

I'm trying to get up the energy at some point to build a little shack or something out where I have a few dyed sheep penned in at an Ice Plains area; I mainly hit there since I took off swimming from my Mushie base and told myself I'd pitch a small fort wherever I first found sheep...and that was it.

 

Hmmm...while i'm here, I might as well recap my past couple of days on the server!

 

I've had a friggin' blast with the 4-day weekend...and even though it's drawing to a close within just hours, and I must return to the office tomorrow...you can bet that I'll be spending plenty of time tinkering around at the server once my blessed 2-week vacation hits in a couple weeks (it starts December 21st!). My shop expired on Friday evening, so I maxed out renewal once again, plus built walls and a roof so that folks don't have to let stormy weather dampen their visit. I've stocked a few things, though nothing that most players likely don't have reams of, but a few items may be of interest in general.

 

MAINLY though, despite needing to do a million and one little things back at my main base, I have had a ton of fun just taking off swimming to explore! It's been an excellent way to get to know some of the outlying areas and what's around, though I did laugh my ass off this afternoon when I happened to swim so far that I reached a strangely familiar Mushroom island (the private base that @Strategist built), so that was kind of fun, though I admit being a bit fearful of some bit of construction I passed by while swimming away that seemed to be built entirely of heads!

Uhhh yeah, that head thing, didn't work as planned... lol I didn't realise that jeb_ disabled a setting after 1.8.7 to allow you to spawn in a larger 'statue' of your minecraft character (skin and all). So it shows up as player heads for the whole body now... (and I can't remove it, strangely enough).

 

As for goings on the past few days, I have had some spare time to set up a new PvP arena with the idea from Romy to use an End Fortress (the ones that contain the End portal) for PvP matches. It is a prime area that is already generated with little need to add anything else in (except for a few 'surprises' hehe) to be able to have a good old PvP contest. See screenies thread for a 'sneak peak' build I just completed at spawn just now (it's a teleport room, for the contest only).

 

So yeah, fun times ahead.

(As for the failed build of a statue that cannot be removed: use lots of different-colored wool and/or stained clay to manually build a statue of your avatar skin around it!)

I FINALLY got the underground pumpkin growing area added to my farming room yesterday...even though I'd gone onto the server with the original intent of building a fishing pier. I'll likely think about starting a pier at some point today.

Very frustrating, but fun.

 

I expanded my base just a bit, started breeding cows and explored for a while. For a long time, actually. I spent more than one hour trying to find a Mesa biome and no luck so far. I JUST WANT SOME COLORED CLAY.

 

 

Is there a portal to a Mesa biome btw? xD
