So I gave a friend my referral link and he said he tried to use it and it didn't work. Now, it's possible he didn't try it and just said he did, so there may not be any problem at all, but I was wondering how recently somebody has had their referral link work?

According to the logs other people have had referrals as recently as today and yesterday. Nothing in there for you though. We can add it manually if you want and they confirm it.
What's their username? Perhaps they put the wrong ID by accident.
