I am sitting in a conference quite bored right now and thought to myself "What could i do instead of paying attention to this event i paid 150$ for." Checked my email, saw the nagging message from @Elindoril and decided to look into it.

Now, in my defense the reason this took so long is that during our upgrade of the forum quite some time ago, the permissions page for irc broke somehow and all you see is this lovely message letting you know that some random php function is undefined...

So i went and found the config value in the database (also not trivial as everything is coded with slugs and numeric ids) and then changed it.

Long story short - go to IRC: http://www.neocodex.us/forum/ircChat/

Thanks, for the longest time it kept telling me I was banned from it. (I dunno why, I don't even use irc on other sites either.)

I'm glad it's fixed now though

IRC is just another thing people use to chat in real time and it was used before TC was even launched. From what Elin was telling me the Neocodex channel to be way more active a few years ago, but I guess times change and all that.

Plus, it sure is nice using a chat program that gives the user the amount of control and customization options that it does while also being incredibly lightweight. You just don't really find that anymore and its a damn shame. Guess too many people ignore those aspects of a program and base whether its even usable by whether it has I dunno, avatars or not :p

(Now seems like a good time to link to my IRC guide in case any new friends have no idea what an IRC is lmao
Edit: fucking mobile not wanting to work with the URL tags

There we go hahah)

That's why we're encouraging people to use Slack now :p

I think for me personally iRC just wasn't my thing. I don't like having to type commands. But TC really sucked as well because it was such shitty quality and the app was piss poor.

Just when everyone's encouraged to use Slack lol. My client still auto connects every time I start it so most of the time I'm the only one idling xD

I know right? After Cody fixed the IRC permissions he contacted us about Slack and I was like e.e timing though...
But oh well. I like getting pings to my phone when someone needs me, it's awesome.

If you set up your IRC client so it identifies and joins a channel on startup, the only command you'd have to use is /quit when you're done chatting ^^

But ahh, I've never heard of Slack. I'll have to check that out sometime!!

It's nice.. similar to irc in that it has channels and stuff. @Coops did a little guide up yesterday if you want to take a peek.

I made my theme all pretty too.. I'm a sucker for personalization.
