Whoever created this question is stupid. How can they go and introduce a new variable in the 4th equation and expect it to make sense? We can't assume that the value of that variable is equal to the number of bananas in that bunch.

Cus fooling people on the internet is fun.
12+X is the only real answer I guess.

I know it's dumb, but the correct answer is supposed to be 15, i still say it is 16 i consider the banana as a 4 and not a 3 even though they subtracted a banana from the last equation.

I got 15. I stared at it for a bit cause I considered the fact that 95% of adults can't do it.
Dumb details xD

I spent hours trying to explain to a friend that the picture with 3 bananas shouldn't be counted as 3/4 of the picture with 4 bananas. I couldn't get it through his skull...Whoever created this question is stupid. How can they go and introduce a new variable in the 4th equation and expect it to make sense? We can't assume that the value of that variable is equal to the number of bananas in that bunch.

This isn't a math problem, it's a "find the difference(s)" picture puzzle.

Common core needs to be stopped :V Like look at all this bullshit.
What's with teaching maths in such a roundabout way? I mean they are correct once you sit back and think about them, but wouldn't it be easier learning that 32-12=20 by breaking it up into 2-2 then 3-1? I think the point of this is to teach kids shortcuts to solving problems, but the issue is that they're forcing kids to use this method instead of this OR the old method, which some kids are better at. It looks like you have to do a lot more unnecessary work to get the answer to whatever super simple problem too. Like a guy I know said his little cousin was doing great in maths but when they introduced this he started struggling because it just didn't click with him.

I got into a math teacher with it on fb over this one.
I broke it down for her the way a logical person would read it and then how a logical person would read the answer (5-2=3+8=11+3=14) and the conversation ended with her telling me that I wouldn't hate math so much if I were taught the common core way initially and the "old way" of doing things is why so many people are bad at or don't like math.

If this BS was taught when I was in school, I would have flunked out of school by the 4th grade.
