He had only 2 people truly love him in his life. His mother and Yondu.

 

His mom was taken away from him before he could understand why. His last memory of her is himself refusing to say goodbye. Link

 

Yondu was his surrogate father and the man who raised him. Yondu died protecting him. Starlord's last memory of him Yondu slowly freezing to death. Link

 

Gamora was the person Starlord treasured above all others. The last time they were together was traumatic. He failed to grant her a quick death AND lost her to someone she was absolutely terrified of (Thanos). Link

 

 

When he heard that Gamora was dead, Starlord reverted into the orphan he was when his mother died. There was no one in the entire universe that loved him. 

 

I would have freaked out too. Starlord's life is really really fucked up despite his chipper demeanor.

I give a massive *eye roll* to the people who say they want to flee the US because of Trump. You're right in saying those people don't realized how great they have it in comparison to most other countries.

Yikes. And this is hella naive because Canada has so many issues as well. Like yeah, the US is hella anti-democratic, and Trump is a garbage bag, but to assume we can just waltz into another country is a bit ironic, especially since so many Americans are vehemently opposed to asylum seekers coming here. And super gross given we don't have the levels of violence, famine, poverty etc like what's happening in many places in Central and South America. I think there are legitimate reasons to want to leave the US, but they don't really boil down to "Trump sucks" for me. Mostly, for myself anyways, the maternal mortality rate here is garbage and our mortality rate is only getting worse, the education system is deeply flawed, healthcare and especially reproductive healthcare is becoming harder and harder to access, there are a lot more human rights violations happening here than people think (prison system, treatment of disabled folks, etc), our country is facing late stage capitalism, and our political system has never been as democratic as many Americans would like to believe. BUT, I recognize I'm still incredibly privileged as an American and it's pretty insensitive/entitled to just assume we have the right to "flee" (that's not even the appropriate word to use lol).
