I'm thinking of running a little contest I have an idea for (just a little riddle type thing) and I'm cool with donating a prize (neopets item/cash) to my own contest but I don't wanna give out the prize from my main which has all my stuff. It's not that I don't trust the person collecting, of course, I'm just pretty security conscious and I'd rather nobody know what my main is.

Do people usually make a side account to give out the prize from? Is it overly paranoid/pointless if I make a burner account on a different IP? Does it nullify the purpose of making a new account if I just send the NPs directly from my main?

Just been some questions on my mind.

Personally Neo has gone downhill so badly that IDGAF if my only account is iced so I just give them out from there.
Though, tbh, if I had a proxy and an older side that I kept at least semi-active I'd probably transfer from there.
Granted, I'm paranoid enough to not transfer from my main to myself (lol) so anything I give away would have been earned on that side.

Ultimately it's up to the individual.

I could even see some users using their main if they winner is an Advance or higher ranked Codexian and then a side for Advance and lower ranks - just to be even safer.

Edit: You could probably also give your prize to a staff member or other middleman.

It may be a good idea. There is nothing wrong with wanting to protect your accounts. But if you send from your main to your new IP account, it's not a stretch to think JS will connect the accounts.

You can definitely make a side account just to send people NP prizes for contests. However, if you're going to transfer the NPs from your main to your side, then your accounts will be linked to each other even if you create it on a different IP.

I'd say that the real danger to accounts isn't really the people/contests here, but people who report your accounts on Neopets, or TNT coming across your account and detecting any suspicious activity and/or any linked accounts.

I don't recommend creating a side account just for that, but if you have a shell I think the safest way is transferring the NPs to it. If you need one, PM me and I will give you :)
