So up until about an hour ago, I thought waffles and pancakes were the same thing with different prep methods. You know, the difference between scrambled and hardboiled eggs.

Which is your preference and why?

Do you prefer the sad, soggy circle covered with random viscous liquids? Or would you rather a slightly crunchier circle with holes that you have to manually shove your condiments into?

(apparently waffles also come in squares, which I also learned today)

You didn't know waffles came in squares? That's the only way I've made them. I only get circle ones if I buy Eggo. And rarely at restaurants.

Anyways, I don't really love either. I am a french toast kind of lady. I like waffles with chicken. But usually, if those are my options, I choose neither or pancakes depending on my mood. I don't usually finish my pancakes. Both are bland to me. Texturally (is that a word?) I think both have their place for different things. Like a waffle burger sounds pretty dope. Or a pancake breakfast sandwich. Yes please.

Also, 10/10 debate topic.

I don't think either can beat a very well made French toast, but blueberry pancakes are my all time favorite from this category.

I have no memory of ever eating a waffle of any shape, but I know I've seen commercials for circle ones. I don't usually finish pancakes either, assuming I ever get around to starting them.

Why?

Waffles, it's like a bunch of tiny little bowls filled with butter and syrup. I like pancakes too, but since you are making me pick, I'd rather have a waffle.

I personally prefer waffles because I like it's texture, unlike that of a flat pancake. :p

I do like them both though. :D

Waffles over pancakes, fosho. But I much prefer crepes over both.

If I'm eating a waffle, it's got to be crunchy. I don't like much syrup on it, bc ruins crunchiness.

Both are bad

Neither can be salvaged.

Potato waffles are the only acceptable ones.

I LOVE pancakes! Buttermilk or blueberry, I'll eat them all :D With maple syrup, or powdered sugar, or even plain. They're delicious

I've never had a real waffle, I only know about Eggos. They're nice to munch on, but they're not what I would eat for a real breakfast.

I agree that french toast is superior to both. But, in a world where I am capable of consuming gluten, I would chose waffles over pancakes.

Waffles doused in maple syrup with strawberries and powered sugar on top is heavenly.

Pancakes, although I think what I think of as pancakes, are actually crepes

I use pancake mix in a waffle maker.

So I guess waffles win.

Waffles is clearly the right answer you jolly filthy bastards.

I get really serious about breakfast foods.

But in reality, I do almost always prefer waffles. The crunch makes the slight sogginess brought on by the syrup more palatable. I love them. I don't understand how a waffle can have 2 sides though. or 6. Does 6 mean the square kind (6 faces)? I am really confused about that. Also, everyone prefers pancakes from IHOP over Denny's, right? Typically this is how my order goes: pancakes<sweet crepe<waffle=french toast<savory crepe. Also bacon is important.

Yes. We call those crepes here. Crepes are love. I miss the crepe truck from when I lived in Germany. The guy made the best crepes I've ever had.

Oh, no, also a pancake, just only by people who are wrong.

Do you have Pancake Day in America?
