No idea if anyone is as into audiobooks as me, but I'll give this thread a try.  I have an incredibly monotonous job so I listen to audiobooks all day.  I prefer Audible because of its ease of use.  I have close to 200 books in my collection so far.

I tend to enjoy the fantasy genre and lately I've been listening to the whole "living-inside-a-game" subgenre nicknamed LitRPG.

Some of my favorites from my collection:

Harry Potter - I have all of these by Jim Dale

Artemis Fowl - Not as good as HP, but man it's still pretty good YA fantasy.  It's about a young egotistic genius who pokes his nose into the world of creatures like faerie etc.

Hell's Super - This series actually made me laugh, it's pretty funny but depends on your sense of humor I guess.  It's about the guy in hell who is superintendent (fixes everything that breaks in hell).  His assistant is Orson Welles, and it features a well rounded cast of characters.

In the living-inside-a-game genre:

Survival Quest - a man is arrested under false charges and sentenced to hard labor inside the virtual reality mine of a video game.

Play to Live - a man dying of cancer decides to go "perma", which is to say he downloads his soul into a game similar to Runescape or WoW.  Great series though slows down toward the end.

Off to Be The Wizard - a man discovers the world he's living in is all just a computer simulation meaning it can be altered by access to a specific file he accidentally found.

Superhero adventure:

Don't Tell My Parents I'm a SuperVillain - a young girl is the daughter of two retired superheroes and is just coming into her powers.  Due to no fault of her own, she becomes a supervillain...and find she enjoys it, and what's more is good at it.

The Rules of Supervillainy - a guy decides to become a supervillain when his brother dies due to a hero.  He finds he is not very good at it (at first).  Hilarity ensues.

End of the World

The Hunger Games - Enjoyed the first book, the last two sucked.

Divergent - Enjoyed the first book, need to finish the series.

The Maze Runner - Same as The Hunger Games, good first book but horrible ending

And btw, there is a really good free book though it's rather short:  It's called The Dispatcher.  In the near future, people can't die by murder, only through suicide and natural causes.  If you're murdered, you simply reappear as you were several hours before in your bed at home.

For example, if you are undergoing a risky surgery, and it seems you are about to die, a dispatcher will murder you so you appear in your bed rather than dying a final death through a doctor's carelessness, etc.

Gee that's a lot of audio books. I love audiobooks. I have just finished the HP series for the first time and loved them. Every other month i listen to an autobigraphy. It is cool to hear other peoples thoughts on different series because i have no idea which book series to go for next. :p Thanks for sharing. :)

I loved the Artemis Fowl books when I was a bit younger. I haven't read those books in forever.

Personally, I can't stand audiobooks. I get too distracted from listening to the book. I read really fast too. And they usually read slower, so it can be hard for me to listen to books lol. But it's a pretty awesome collection you have going.

I've recently got into audiobooks. I love them! I've listen to only two so far; The Girl on the Train and The Circle :)

Artemis is great isn't he?  lol  He's such a jerk sometimes, but you have to still root for him.  I used to read until I found I just didn't have the time.  And then I began working this job a few years back and realized listening to audibooks would make my day go way quicker.

The Girl on the Train is the recent movie adaptation as well right?  I'll look up The Circle

The only nonfiction that i have experience with so far is autobiographies.. I have enjoyed miranda harts "Is it just me", Jennifer saunders "bonkas" and am currently working on one of stephen frys books. There are soooo many to choose from. Have you finished listening to all 200+ of your books?

Yep, haven't seen the movie yet. I liked the book. The Circle is ok, it has a Brave New World type of style but related to the social networks that we have today. I've heard there's also gonna be a movie adaptation next year

No, but I've listened to a good portion.  I should see percentage wise how far I am into it... :D

Loved BNW.  It seems as though they're adapting everything these days.

My sister listens to audiobooks for the same reason.

On the topic of nonfiction, what kind of subjects do you like? I have a collection of nonfiction books I've read and enjoyed, but I don't know what subjects are your cup of tea, so I don't know what you'd like or not.

Hm, I'm not sure.  I've never really delved into it.  I think the closest I have is A Thousand miles to Freedom, about a North Korean family who escape.  I enjoyed it quite a bit.  It was fascinating the struggles they had to go through.

I also love history in general.

I recently reread A Voyage Long and Strange by Tony Horwitz. I read it for a history class and enjoyed it so much I came back and reread it. It's reminiscent of Howard Zinn's work regarding revisionist history. It's pretty interesting. Horwitz focuses on the idea of Columbus coming to America, and the historical obsession with Plymouth Rock and such. He documents a trip he took through Canada, the US, and some parts of the Central America, and discusses the perception of the "discovery" of the New World. But it's in an easily consumed and he backs it up with primary sources. All in all, a solid history read, if you ask me. No idea if there is an audiobook though but it may be worth a look. :)

Thanks, I'll see if it's on audible.  I appreciate the tip.

No problem. I'll see what other books I have that maybe you'll like!

Also, I'm super happy to see someone who types "I also" haha. I know that's random but I always type that, erase it, and change it to "Also, I". But I say "I also" real life. I think I change it because I worry people will be like what the fuck.

Those looks great.

I recently discovered that i enjoy audio books as much as books. Sadly, i am too picky with what i download, and so far there are just two audiobooks i'd listend a second time:

-Rebelión en la granja [The Farm? I guess...]

-Doctor Jekill y Señor Hyde [Dr Jekill and Mr Hyde]

Nice.  I want to study Spanish more; I only have a basic understanding of it unfortunately.  You should definitely give them a try, they're good.  Both have three books each so far in the series.  You can also listen to a sample of each if you like. :D

I was searching for a thread about books and sad to see it's been years since anyone has talked about audiobooks. Yikes. Well I hope there are some active readers still on here today!

I don't collect audiobooks, I take them out from the libraru through the Libby/Overdrive apps. Audiobooks are hit or miss because of the voice and performance of the narrator so I moreso have favorite narrators than favorite audiobooks. For instance, if I know that an audiobook is narrated by Alex McKenna, I'm going to love it and automatically check it out of the library.
