You have good points there, but I would still really urge you to play IX if you find a more cost effective opportunity. It really captures the essence of pre-VII final fantasies and there's even easter eggs throughout the game of past titles. The gameplay is considered the easiest of all Final Fantasies, but that works in its favor to give more attention to all the storyline, characters, and world.
Definitely don't play it on your phone. I can't imagine playing certain parts of that game on the phone. I have the PC Steam version and I consider the remastered graphics very beautiful in context to playing the PS1 version annually for the past *cough* number of years.
I mean I have a Windows tower, but it's running XP. It won't run the V and VI ports. I doubt it'll run anything released in the last 5 years. Windows always wants another 150 bucks to make their OS work with new software, whereas Apple never shuts up about giving me a free update to the latest OS X.
I have quite a few to play through before I hit IX though. VI is rated almost as highly as IX, so I don't think I'll be skipping around.
BTW guys, if you haven't had the pleasure, pick up Homeworld. It's fucking hard. A 15 year old, single player, RTS that's challenging? Wut? I know, but it's good.
