This was Rarity. (Don't judge me, I used to be hardcore into MLP back in 2011 when I adopted her.)
She was severely abused, and terrified when I brought her home. Didn't care for men much, but absolutely adored me for some reason. Even the moment I met her at the humane society, she threw herself against the fence and wanted to be petted, despite being skittish around other people. They didn't think she'd ever even get adopted, but took her in anyway so she could live her life there. (She was an elderly adopt, somewhere around 8-10 years old at time of adoption.)
She didn't really know how to play, or do anything really. She was always really scared since something horrible obviously happened to her. But, she did care about one thing. Being petted. Eventually that's all she wanted, she'd get as close to you as possible and just be your buddy.
She was gentle, sweet, never growled, and she only barked once in the time I knew her. (When i returned to adopt her from the humane society she barked to get my attention, never did it again.) I adopted her days after I lost my first dog, who I'll probably talk about in another post after I compose myself enough to. That one stings even more because I owned her for 14 years and we grew up together. I think me and this dog shared a lot in common, it's was speculated that her previous owner had died and she ended up in some bad hands. So we both lost someone close, and found comfort in eachother.
She was a great dog, and I wish I could have had her longer than four years. It's been almost two years since her death.
But enough sadness! Here's cute pictures of her.
