To any and all members who went through this turbulent and traumatic time (profitable for many?),

Came across this National Dupe Day (week) news that happened way back in 2014 after I had stopped Neopets for a while. Was curious enough to see what had happened and lo and behold, I was flabbergasted and annoyed at what I had missed out on.

Since I assume that the methods have been patched into oblivion and that duping that way no longer works, I would like to request (if it's not against the rules of the forum), that someone share how this came to pass. I've read through the previous thread from the '14s and I know that a lot of private/retired members knew the Way but did not/could not share for fear of newbs exploiting it. Now that that is no longer a risk, I would like to know (because curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought him back...),

How does it work? What did you have to do? How was it discovered??? I have so many burning questions that my curiosity demands be satisfied!

Many thanks Keil-san,

Damn it, don't be so cringy.

I did the haiku thing because I didn't want to spend time explaining myself earlier since I was on my phone. It's no riddle. It's just spam clicking places with some form of a submit button to duplicate information (read: items) like your SDB, Shop Inventory, Card Albums, even unattaching your petpet from your pet. There's no special program that was needed to do the thing, though they helped to make the process faster and with no physical strain that comes with mashing your mouse or enter key.

The haiku is not a riddle. The Jumpstart transition fucked up some code when the servers were moved. The site was laggy as fuck and vulnerabilities were found accidentally.

LOL Dan! What the fishsticks. I saw some of those in the 2014 board, but some are new. That was fun to see.

Also, side question for any of you still on this thread; what exactly is the difference between a retired member, private member and advanced member?
Perhaps the most interesting among the pictures is the Lemony Item Duplication Module. Was that something you made on your own or was it a program like Neocodex programs you found? If so, someone worked really quick to automate the duplication process under such a short time.

You need to be voted into private and retired. Retired tends to happen when you've been a big part of the site, but then you need to dial back responsibilities or when you AFK out of the blue. Major benefits include a private room to be cranky in.

And when it comes to programming, this was likely written by someone who already had some/most of the code and just needed to direct the code to do whatever actions were necessary to dupe. The simple interface also definitely saved time.

I'm glad I brought forth memories for all the retired members on Neocodex. Hahaha! Perhaps no one else who is active now even knew about it, I certainly didn't until just recently.

I wonder if there are any active item dupes on neopets nowadays, seeing as neopets isn't as popular as before. Would love to get my hands on a method just to see if it actually works (for science). Like duping omelettes! Hahaha.

My heart skipped a beat when I started reading your title! :(

Good ol' times. By the way, you can still dupe the newbie starter pack, so I guess it means the dupe days are not patched for good?

I think all of Dan's accounts were eventually found. Speaking of which, all of my accounts with dupes were frozen lol.

Oh? So they actually did try a purge? I had heard that even now there are some accounts with dupes floating around and that their owners are very secretly trying to sell.

Hahaha, was wondering if someone would panic and think there was another dupe bug. Unfortunately not, there would be hell to pay I'm sure... :D

I got frozen because I was sorta bored and start duping np. It was fairly easy to dupe items and not get caught. but the np dupe was more obvious

I made it on my own and released it publicly to these forums. It was released within about 24 hours of dupes being mentioned on the site.

At the time, I think we all understood it as them going through a tough time due to the duping. In retrospect, maybe it wasn't related :p

those screenshots are wild, cant believe a server change could cause that much chaos, they should have taken the site down for a day while they switched servers, its just common sense

That or once the event was picked up at least take the servers down whilst they fix the issue but nope they left them up.

on the plus side was amazing to watch on the boards soooo many people got annoyed with TNT that day but yet I bet most of them abused the glitch as well.
