Hey everyone! I thought we might need a place to post Pokémon Go updates and news so I did the thing! 
**Anyone is welcome to post updates**
I'm starting with this topic and the latest in-game updates as of August 27th, 2018.
- Ho-Oh is leaving gyms today, Aug 27, If you happen to catch the last wave, try and get it!
- Raikou leaves the Field Research stamps soon, September's Field Research Pokémon is Entei!
- New Special Research is out, Celebi is the Mythical featured in this Special Research
- Johto Event continues, no word yet on when it will end but presumably soon as it's been a week so catch those Shiny Sunkern, Natu, and Pinecos!
- September 22 Community Day will feature Chikorita, 3x XP for catches, 3 hour lures during that window
APP UPDATES:
You can now use QR Codes to add friends
Improved Pokémon Collection search function lets you search using the term “Lucky”
You can now view map details for PokéStops on your screen
At-a-glance notifications now show when you have sent a Gift or increased your Friendship level with a friend
Additional setting options let you hide Recently Caught Pokémon from friends
In-game notifications have a new UI and interactive capabilities
Various bug fixes and performance updates

Niantic tweeted about the end of the Johto event =), I think it correlate with the times for endings of Ho-Oh as well
So that gives us ~1 day to get some more gen 2's!

Ho-oh left gyms yesterday and Johto ends today so pretty close!
Ho-oh didn't leave but Regirock returned for some Legendary raids. Ho-oh was officially supposed to be available until the 27th according to the in-app news. 
Weird.
Man I haven't played this in so long. I need to open it up and see what all has changed.
SO MUCH.
I also hadn't played in forever (Since 2016 at least) and now I'm addicted again.

Same!! I quit in Mar 2017, was roped in by mom after trading was implemented...and proceeded to get hooked again lol.
