Anyone remember Slopdog? Why'd they ever shut down? Was my favorite forum.

I haven't heard of that forum in many many years. I'm not sure why they shut down, but I do remember using a wrapper I got from there for neopets programs written in VB.

The forum database got corrupted and the backup failed I believe. So it was remade and got a makeover but it didn't last long after that.

It was my main forum when it was around, I remember attempting to log on the day it shut down and being so upset to see that it was gone, it basically caused me to stop playing NP.

 

If memory serves it was because, like Nano said, the database was lost, so the admins decided to start again from scratch, but the main reason for the actual shutdown was that after the remake was launched everyone just complained about it and the admins basically said "ok, we've tried our best, but if no one is happy then we'll just shut it down".

 

I honestly kept checking back for months because I thought it wouldn't last, but it never came back.
