I was looking at using a SS to get game trophies but I am seeing alot advising against it.

 

I took a 4 year break from Neo, Use to SS a fair bit for avatars. 

 

Any advise please

Seeing as SSing doesn't really work anymore, I highly suggest using AOB's. You still actively 'play' the game, but with modifications. So to me it's much less sketchy than SSing in general.

As Adam said, go with AoB, it's much safer since you're playing the game, but be careful not to send an insane score. Also, sometimes your AoB code will let you finish the game much faster than the average time, so keep in mind that you will have to wait before sending your score. If you don't know how long you should wait, you can search YouTube videos of someone playing the game legitly and see how long it takes. Or, you can keep the game open for like 1-hour in the "send score" page after you finish it, so you will be safe.

 

Besides that, the only tips I can give you are the ones well-known: if you don't care about what trophies you get, send scores on games that you get the trophy after sending the max score (like Bruno's Breakaway and Clockwork Codebreaker), and try the competition trophies on the 1st of each month so you don't have to risk sending a score too high.

There are actually safer alternatives than to AoB.

 

There is to be no explicit advertising of other sites unless explicit permission from the Administration is granted. Any form of advertisement must be approved by Staff.

I agree and use AoB. Haven't had a problem as of yet.

I have used AoB in the past with no problems. However, I thought I would do this week's BTY and used the AoB codes. Four times the score would not process, although other non cheating game scores went through OK. Is there possibly some sort of detector that has been implemented? I refreshed the game between plays.

 

Never mind, it works with one code but not with the two that I was using.

AoB is better, also because the program you use is from an actual company. SS depends on user-made programs, so it's hard to find one that works these days since almost no one plays Neo anymore sadly.
