For this tutorial I used Paint, and Jasc Ani'mation Shop, but any graphic/ani'mation program will work , as long as you have some general basic knowledge about the program you're using.
This is what we're making:
First, you need the blocks and letters. You can either: design your own on paint, or you can google a blinkie maker and drag and drop. like this:
drag and drop the pieces to the blinkie in any way that you want to. When you're done, click the Print Screen (PrtScr) button on your keyboard. Open your graphics-program (Use Paint). Right click somewhere inside the white area and choose "Paste". Now in paint, make sure that the acualy blocks are lined up correcly and have as little white space around them as possible. Drag it to the top left hand corner and close the white into it as tight as it can so there is no room for white around it.
Now, choose a color that you're sure isn't used in the blinkie already,if you paisted into photoshop, use the Paintbrush or the Flood Fill Tool to color the parts of the I'mage you want to be transparent, If you are in paint use flood fill tool. these are not required but you may want to change around some of the backround or colours.
Ok, on to the next step: Ani'mating the blinkie. Right click your I'mage and choose "Copy", then open your Ani'mation Program (mine is Jasc Ani'mation Shop). Right click and choose "Paste As New I'mage". Your I'mage will now appear in your Ani'mation Program:
Select your I'mage by clicking the blue bar at the top (Where it says "Ani'mation 1"), then click Ctrl+Shift+L at the same ti'me, your I'mage will now be duplicated, like this:
Repeat the last step until you get as many frames as your blinkie requires. For this blinkie I will need to use at least 5 frames (because there are 5 letters in the word) My blinkie now looks like this:
I used 10 frames because I made the ani'mation longer and better looking. this is how to make the acual anni'mation.
Color one of the letters in each frame in any color that you want (white is easiest to see), like this
You do not have to fill the border around the letter you are doing filled, but it adds a nice effect. it would look fine with just the letter filled.
Now you can whatch your blinky by pushing the botton near the top right
that looks like a role of film to whatch your frames being put together in blinkie form
Click "File" --> "Save As"... and save it as whatever you want, opti'mize.
Yippy! You can now proudly call yourself a blinkiemaker!!
If you think this tutorial was helpful, or have any questions, feel free to send me an Personal messege! I would love to see your work!

I don't know, you can always google unfreez (spelled like that) but in order to make a blinkie with it you have to manually make all the frames. What I mean is you have to put (ex.) "Jane" then open a new page and put "Jane" with the first letter white or whatever but hey, it works and it's free

Yeah I know, I have mine still saved on my comp **somewhere**
anyways, great tut, it helps a lot and I made this (first ti'me mind you)
Giralex is part of my neopets account name (not including numbers, I don't want numbers I think it's... "original" because of the blink blink at the end that I have not seen.. often..)
