I have downloaded the AMSN messenger (MSN for linux), installed it, etc... but when I click 'ok' in the login window, it says 'logging in...' and (looking on my network card) there's no traffic, and it won't sign in at all
Any ideas?
by the way: That's the reason why I wasn't on MSN today...

no idea sloth, ive never used linux before....though I plan to switch some ti'me this summer...but by then you will already know so you can help me

Nope... I have the same thing in it, and it doesn't help...

Also, I cen't get XChat to connect to ANY server!!!!! CENSORED CENSORED!!! :ranting:

looks like you have internet problems... make sure you have a solid internet connection with other stuff... play around with network devices if you don't. I'm a linux n00b aswell, but the people at the linuxiso forums http://www.linuxiso.org are very helpful linux pros

The forums aren't a bad idea...
But I can do a s*** about my connection, u know why... and the weirdest thing is, msn and irc work 100% fine on this comp (still w98 ), but won't work on my laptop despite the settings being the same (HTTP works...) :blink:

hey are you sure that did you conected to the net. try running the mozilla, and if you cant acess anything then try connecting by ctrl + alt +f2 write pppoeconf and preess enter (works if you have a dsl line).

no no no no... HTTP works just fine... it's just AMSN and XChat that won't CENSORED connect!!! :ranting:

=/ thats odd... try running the update agent and that might be fixed. If not, I think you might have to use gai'm and another irc client (xchat is horrible anyways)
