Can you make it so the thread starter has the power to close their own thread?

That would be alot easier than reporting your own thread to close it.

They do have the power to close their own thread...just by replying with "this thread can be closed." I think them being able to close their thread could certainly hinder discussions.

Well I guess its at the moderators discretion to reopen it and if possible there can be a function where the member cannot close it again

There is usually always some staff member online. Weve done it so that we have staff from all around the world and make sure that we have some way to keep it that way, although times do come around where its not like that. For admin, its that case, but for moderation, moderators are from all around the world and as cript said, you can just say "thanks, I got what I needed" and we will close the thread.
