Republic, and I can support this by the fact that the world's only remaining super power is a Republic.

Hey, capitalism works every time.

Well, Russia I agree with, but Japan has tons of electronics coming out of it. Most computer games are designed there, and most electronic hardware is released there before here. No real threat to the US, but still...

That is how republics are best overall. After all, the Roman Republic was excellent until it became an Empire. Granted, the Empire rose to more power than the Republic had, but it was a corrupted, tainted power, and when the Romans fell, they fell hard.

First of all, I would like to say that I'm not disagreeing with you, in fact, I applaud your post.

The Roman Empire remained its Republic roots, it was because of its vast size, and the way that they attained it, that they fell. They overtook massive amounts of land through force and because of this they had to use almost all of their resources and man power to maintain those borders against invasion. =/

As for government, I think Casilla covered the subject well, but purely speaking about school. I think that Japan has the idea. The lazy idiots that waste everyones time disrupting class are taken out before high school and given the jobs that they can do, leaving all of the scut work covered. Then only the best go on to get the second teir of good jobs, and only the best of the best can complete college, leaving the most intelligent for the most difficult of jobs. This does two things; one, it keeps the idiots out of places where they could be harmful, and it keeps the school kids on their toes, limiting the apathy that many have towards school. It also manages to keep people focused on ONE main job, while it may cut down on what they cover, what they do make is the BEST, usually in the world. Their electronics being a prime example, we haven't even seen half of what they have still in Japan.

So, in sum, Japanese school systems and Republics where they can be maintained are the best way to go. ;)

I wish they would port that school system over to the US :( I hate the bastards I have to put up with in school. Luckily, I'm taking a lot of advanced classes, and they're not, so I get at least some break :p Still, those Japanese style schools would be better.
