Apparently they tortured people by injecting opium into their system, and lots of it. it wasnt smoking it, it was just raw opium.

this is self opinion mainly but debate on

I believe it should be used for no purposes

Most opiates are so addictive, they'd ruin anyone's will by using it on them. Heroin and Morphine are so addictive people kill for them... we don't need that in our world. Lesser opiates like codeine (sp?) is used to relieve pain I guess, but it should be heavily regulated and restricted. It still has high addiction risks.

I agree with redlion. Lesser opiates need to be regulated better than they are now. As far as torture goes, I think it would be a pretty good way. I'd prefer that over getting my fingernails shoved full of bamboo shoots or ripped out anyday.

I don't really see how much it would be torture, lol. Hydrocodone feels pretty good... I've never had it injected though but I just assume you have the same feeling quicker and more intense. And hmmm... The urethra? o.o that makes absolutely no sense... you don't absorb ANYTHING through there... things get absorbed into it.

OWWWWW! That has to be the most painful thing I've ever imagined. Getting a hypodermic needle shoved up there- ow! Jesus... don't make me think about that...

Stonger dosages were used for pure torture, apparently. Like the ones that make you feel good for 1 minute then paralyses your body basically.

I think it is torture... I saw what it could do to people because some people started using it... Not good... Torture to themselves.

Some terrorist would be unfortunate enough to get some dope fiend who liked it like that. It would be Mr. Cokesnortters lucky day though. XD

why inject people with opiates? to get them addicted maybe, that is pretty dumb. I mean if u take large amounts only a large amount will make the craving go away, now that is the torture!

if you go to history they play a show called addicting drugs. You should see it. it comes on like every week! :)

Meh, I think its been said. There isn't much in opium besides the withdrawal that could be considered torture. Unless you count the obscene side effects that happen while coming down from a heroin high or something. People coming down feel like shit... especially if its an IV hit because of their intensity. I guess it could be used the same way some prisons punish inmates- no food for a week if you screw up.

Either way, its still a drug :p

One of my close friends was diagnosed with cancer last May(Lukemia). The only way he could have survived with the pain was with hourly doses of morphine while he was in the hospital. He is clean now, but he still has cancer, and chemo once a week, and he's out of the hospital. He's on some lower drugs now.

OWWWWW! That has to be the most painful thing I've ever imagined. Getting a hypodermic needle shoved up there- ow! Jesus... don't make me think about that...

Try getting a catheter stuck up there after rupturing your appendix.

Edit:

on a side note.. opium has been used in many asian cultures for thousands of years now.. smoked not injected all-be-it but still used for thousands of years...

That made me think of the instructional video in Dodgeball the movie :p
