for example,
for some crimes it's there to protect the public by removing someone from society
it's there to deter people from commiting crimes
in theory it's there to re-habilitate some offenders - however I'm not sure of the effectiveness - certainly in this country where the overcrowding is such that the staff to prisoner ratio can't possibly be a beneficial environment for rehab
I think that if re-hab is the main aim then it would be better to have courses and rehab centers instead of prisons for certain crimes
but sadly we live in a world where people want punishment to be exacted for a crime commited and few people want the criminal to be given anything other than punishment
(my 2p worth)

But other than that it should be to rehabilitate someone... because if it's just a punishment who's to say they won't do it again as soon as they get out? Some people are just that stupid... or mentally ill..

The main point of prision is to be punished for you'r actions.
-But I've actually watched a few minutes of a show where people
have 'reflected' and talked about their crimes. So in a way ,
both.

lol. rehab.
except killers should all be given the death sentence.
What if they had an addiction they could not quit, and needed rehab? In my opinion a life sentence in prison would be far worse than a death sentence.

Is there a problem with bringing up old topics? I think many of these old topics are far more interesting than some of the new ones, and could use some more discussion.

All short sentences.
A) So, if no one else posts, you are spamming?(answering to the image)
B) By that logic, your post is spam.(answering to short sentence)

It's the combination of bringing up five year old topics, answering in short sentences and doing all that with multiple times.
