Just curious about what everyone thinks of the GTA series. I just got the PSP version of GTA yesterday (my first GTA title ever) and I love it.

Is GTA good or bad?

It's a good game and I surely think it should continue, however parents need to have a little more responsibility and research the games their kids want a bit before getting it for them. You can tell what kind of content is in the game just by looking at the case, and the parents that complain about it after the fact need to realize they slipped by not paying attention, and they must double their efforts to make sure their child gets age-appropriate games.

Bad for kids of young ages. It's just a bad influence, and kids that don't have well developed brains like a 10 year old don't see the difference. They don't "know" that it's bad, and at that age you shouldn't be seeing that kind of stuff anyways. It's fine if your older since you have enough sense in your head, but parents are going out and buying it for their eight and nine year olds like it's nothing bad at all.

Josh, thats not necessarily true. I was playing GTA when I was five, and I turned out just fine.

As long as they're a good parent, and teach their kid the difference between reality and a video game at an early age, there's no problem. My 6 year old brother plays more violent video games than I do (almost all of our XBox collection is rated M...) and he's only 6. He's been playing GTA 3 since it first came out, when he was like...3? He never does stupit shit or gets in trouble. Its all in how you were raised.

It's only a bad influence if you let it influence you. If your so stupid to kill a kid and get addicted to drugs from a video game, you dont deserve to live.

GTA was fun for like 2 years. (I played when GTA2 was out) After that, the games just get more boring, and easier.

To Reeshu, thing is, a lot of people that are playing the games are 12 and under, the point being, they won't know whats wrong or right (maybe) so they might think that going out on killing sprees is a coolthing to do.

That depends.

When I was 12 I could play games just fine. I could play Doom, whatever. it didnt make me want to go out and kill something.

The fact is kids should be educated more on the issue rather then going to play the game immediately. They arent gonna read the rating obviously if theyre buying the game, so they should have to take a simple seminar to get through their heads its fake for a reason before the parents get the permission to buy it for their kid.

Shit I knew what was in xtc when I was like 8 and I know how they make crack.....You don't see me doing drugs and acting gangster. I aint stupid and just CENSORED up my life......I've never smoked etc.

GTA aint bad unless you grow up with a family thats poor and lives in the ghetto etc. But your CENSOREDed anyways if you live there. sor eally no big deal.

However, there are few actual killings from game influence. It really would not matter to me since there are very few actual CENSOREDing idiots that would go uneducated about the line.

Yes, I agree with Alias. Setting an example doesn't do shit because in the end it matters with their maturity. I could be living it to the complete edge in gangs killing people. But I use common sense. However, you could take someone that would still join a gang no matter where they are at no matter what example I give them. It's all about maturity.

As well, it isn't hard to get out of the ghetto. I have 3 friends, one who makes 135 grand a year at 23 that lived in the ghetto of detroit. Again, examples, but just shows what people's excuses are.
