Arranged marriage is still commonly practiced in the Indian Subcontinent India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka being the most common way marriage is done there. It crosses boundaries of religion, culture and caste, for example, it is practiced by Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, and Muslims, alike. To a lesser extent, it is present in tribal and rural areas in parts of the Middle East. It used to be the norm in urban areas as well, but is vanishing quickly from there. It was also common in South Korea, China, and Japan, but is now rapidly diminishing in these countries.
Arranged marriages are also tradition in Cambodia.

My view is that people should have the right to choose whether they want to indulge in a arranged marriage or not and should not be forced into it by parents or anybody else.
I personally would not follow the route of arranged marriage if I was single and of a culture that practiced it.
