Yes, denominations are also called sects. <grin>I dont know too much about christianity, but would you say the denominalizations are similar to the different sects in Islam? just a different school of thought, but essentially the same religion?

Different denominations disagree on some things - some denominations lean more towards Catholic beliefs, some lean towards Jewish beliefs, some are waaaay out there...some denominations are more liberal (as in, they allow homosexuals in their congregation without trying to force them...or even accept homosexuality as not a sin)...some are more conservative. They disagree on the nature of God, the nature of Jesus (is he God or is he a different entity altogether), on the nature of Heaven/Hell and sin, on translations of the Bible (back to the homsexuality thing, for example - the passages about homosexuality in the Old Testament all have alternate translations that aren't so popular), on just about anything. Also, each denomination has its own heirarchy - some are connected through a greater movement (such as Methodists), some are just individual churches related only by denomination.
If there's anything specific about a denomination you want to know...that'd be easier to answer. There's hundreds of Christian denominations, though. Some do not exist still today, either. Such as Gnostics.

Fair enough. But debating the point will prove nothing about it. And yea, calling someone a bitch on the offense is only counterproductive towards the point.
