As planned, the Neocodex programmers will be evaluating the programs in the downloads section in an effort to make a mass cleanup. The quality of some of our programs has diminished over the ages, and we feel we need to remove the erroneous and duplicate programs as well as update the old ones.

Just letting you know, that we will be looking at the programs in one fashion or another and if we decide to remove your program, you will be given a PM notification. Make sure your programs work in the next few days if you want to keep them.

I think duplicates should be fought for... so whichever is the best will be the only one of that type there...

Wow, the programmers are finding so many issues with some of the programs. We can probably cut 33% of them right now and we've only gone through 3 pages. (so basically, one whole page)


Programmers, this is what we are finding so far:

• Outdated headers giving the impression the user is still running Windows 98
• Impossible (!!) browsing speed. No one can play a game and do refreshes in 0.1 seconds.
• Some of your programs are missing headers (namely, the Accept-Encoding header that tells Neopets what kind of data to send!)
• Outdated GetStringBetween criteria causing the text fields to fill with gibberish

The list goes on.

Also; a lot of the Codex Checks are either not installed properly, or not installed at all. I think the implementation needs to be written somewhere extremely bluntly, right now it's at the bottom of some rather large implementation guide. =/

I think duplicates should be fought for... so whichever is the best will be the only one of that type there...

Maybe put the duplicates in the battles and have people vote for them that would be a good way to see which is liked more.

I deleted all of my nonworking and outdated programs. I did upload a new version of my multitrainer that incorporates all of the old trainers/auto players and has many new games and a new way of loading flash games that should not be effected if Neo changes the code.

I have some somewhat suprising news:

It turns out that approximately 50% of our programs (yes, half of our program stock) have serious errors and have to be removed completely from the downloads system until the authors can fix the errors.

Another 30% or so of the programs have some issues that need to be dealt with by the programmers and will be receiving personal messages soon.

Not surprised. The BD Getter was the first program I ever made, and was very inefficient. The auto-scratcher, worked pretty good back in it's day

It's actually looking really good, the programs that are staying will be very good ones, and some of them need small updates, all in the user's best interests, gotta keep 'em unfrozen right? =P

If your program is listed in here and you want clarification why it was removed, please send a PM to me and I can look in our report.
You have an opportunity to resubmit your program any time (it still exists in our system, it is just invisibilized). Simply edit your program and it will popup back into the approval queue. To be sure, also PM a senior programmer (or me) saying that you have updated the program in case it does not popup on our side.
