Yesterday, I updated my Linux packages with the synaptic package manager. After a restart, I found that the computer would do its driver loading and all that in the beginning, and everything was normal. After that, it would halt and not do anything anymore. I tried almost everything I could think of. I even asked SimonTheMime to help me to the point where he got pissed off and is now avoiding me (I think tongue.gif). But today, I found this article on the ubuntu forums: http://ubuntuforums....ad.php?t=240957

It explains that the latest xorg-core update is breaking the X server that Linux relies on to display its beautiful GUI. In the topic on the forums, there is also a solution for those who are having the same problem. I hope this helps you all out as it can be pretty frustrating not knowing what is wrong with your computer. When you apply this solution, you will need to choose recovery mode for (k)ubuntu in the GREP boot loader and type in the commands that are given in the topic.

Hope it helps.
