Because the section is changing.
With a change in the section comes a change in permissions.

When the section was fully public, regs were closed.
Thus, no filthy leechers.
When regs were opened, it was made Adv+ to protect our IGNs from the fresh new members.
This had the downside of closing the -whole- section off to new members.
Some of them never even knew we have a Maple section.
So, here is our compromise.

We're trying to make Maple a much bigger part of the site.
Obviously the first step is to open up the section again.
But then we still have the identity issues.
So we split it up a bit, and have an Advanced section, right? Cool.
But, we don't want it to stop there.
If, according to plan, our programmers show an interest, we're going to start getting our own exclusive Maple progs.
Now, the Maple community is generally far more spammy on cheat sites than Neopets players.
Do you want to be overrun by people spamming to 500 posts to get our extremely awesome hacks? Didn't think so.

I know I'll never win against a mod xD -quits whining >.>-

Heres my opinion. Putting the section into the private area isn't using it to its full potential. There's probably more non-private maple hackers that know alot more then the fewer private+ Maple hackers.

If they know about it already, I'm sure that they can cope without our (for the moment) purely copied hacks section.

One more little comment...

If we're trying to make Maple a bigger part of the site, and a LOT of people here hack maple (which would make them not as interested in the non-hacking threads), why are they limited to priv+?
Sorry if that didn't make much sense...did the best I could.

Because what I see, is a community of Maple -players-
Not hackers.

Ok, what would neocodex be if we decided to put all the neopets programs and anything having to do with cheating in private?

It wouldn't be much...blink.gif

Joe- By the way...even if we DID make hacks adv+, it would still be better than forums like mpc. Like in mpc, all you have to do is signup, then dl. and as far as I can see, some people dun like the priv.+...even some of the priv.+ =/ Not trying to overpower you or anything, I'm just defending what I think is right.

To do that, you'll obviously be trying to gain new members through the maple section.. therefore, they need a reason to come here instead of going to other sites and leeching from them. If everything to do with hacking is kept private, people are not going to want to bother with this site, when they can easily get things from other places.

It's like with the neopets section, some of the programs are available to the public, the better programs are kept private. People have a reason to try and get into private to see how much better the programs etc will get. Whereas, for the maple section.. they're not even getting a 'taster' of this.

And alot less anybody. tongue.gif Can you honestly say that most of the members here still would have came here if all the stuff was in a private area?

So basically what we want is hackers coming along for hacks only, nm the rest of Codex?

This is just in it's beginner stages anyway. No one has said hacks are going to be forever cornerd off to non-privates.

This is btw, typical of someone not getting what they want, making a fuss out of it. Both hackers eh?

o.o
Confused

Yes, I hack, and I'm not just going to let it go that BEFORE this, I was able to see the whole hacking section and all of a sudden because I'm not 'deserving' enough for private, I can't even talk about hacking here anymore.

Well, since it isn't purely people that are below private status saying things.. that isn't entirely fair.

lmao...WHY lock this topic? why?

Look at what it's turned in to. And from the last 1-2 pages, it doesn't look like it'd going to be back on topic anytime soon.

Then again, it doesn't seem like you'd agree with me.

Well to those arguing that we won't attract new members here's the way I see it.

We're certainly not going to assemble a perfect maplestory section in a few days. It's going to be a long process. And the first step in the process is having a lot of programs. And programmers (as joe mentioned before I think) arn't going to put time and effort into a program that will be released to people they don't want released and people they don't think deserve it. By having a maplestory section for privates+ I think this would encourage more programmers to make programs.

And once we do have a lot of programs, they can consider opening an additional section to lower members and thus making a system similar to our private section.

-

Think about the system we just had before this. It was open to advanced members+ right? But did anybody really make programs?

...I mean, it's not like they're going to get a treat or something. And there aren't THAT many programs that can be made for maplestory, anyways. A/C, maybe? An autopotter and autolooter?

EDIT: Forgot UCE's and bypasses.

But Freak, there's a simple answer to that. If they don't want a program released to people lower than private, they can post it in private rather than somewhere more public. At least give them a choice.
