I dont know if this is in the right section but here it goes...

I got ipb 2.2.1 version downloaded on my computer.. now how do I host it on a website?

Like the installation process cause I read a tutorial and it said you need to upload to an ftp and get atleast 1 mysql for it... and something like that... can someone explain to me the process of uploading it onto a site? or give me some good tutorial sites for it...

Also anyone know any good cheap hosting sites?

Some more flagrant spamming by zachafer, that didn't offer any help at all to him. angry.gif

You just need to get all the files in the upload folder and upload them (obviously tongue.gif), then run the install script (it'll be somewhere like ipb/install/index.php) and it will run through the installation process.

The host you use will need to offer php and mysql, IPB should have a readme for installation anyway, just read through that.

Err, t'is really simple. Create an SQL database for it, upload all the board files to your public html directory (an FTP program like SmartFTP would really quicken this part up, instead of doing each file one by one using cPanel), and run the install page within the board files. From there - pretty much self-explanatory, then you gotta delete your install page after you've got it all set up.

Though if you don't actually have hosting yet...I can imagine why it sounds so confusing...

If you're making the website public then you shouldn't be using a cracked version...buy it if you want to use it, or get a free forum system like phpBB.

it costs $300... 1we8.gif

and no one wants to join a free version because its unproffessional... sad.gif

Cause I have a site http://sellersink.co.nr compare that to a real ipb... cause I want to make a site about buy/selling stuff starting from a pair of shoes to game accounts.... and its hard to trust an invisionfree site.... 1we8.gif

It'll cost you more than $300 if they find out and decide to sue you. tongue.gif

There are many people (including myself) who don't have a problem in reporting websites which are using cracked version of IPB.

That's how i know. tongue.gif

I'm sure they have ways to check if a forum is using nulled software or not, they did write it after all. tongue.gif
