Saw it at midnight tongue.gif Greatness. Although, I'm rather inclined to think that David Yates is a bit of a H/LL shipper tongue.gif What was with that scene near the end where they're holding hands and all?

Btw, Evanna Lynch played Luna extremely well. The best part is, she talks like that in real life laugh.gif Her first acting roll too smile.gif

She was picked because she wrote to JKR, was she not?
I think I heard that they couldn't find an actress suitable, and that JK just sort of turned up and said, why not try this girl who wrote to me... and everyone was like, OMG SHES AMAZINGZORZ tongue.gif

Absolutely incredible.

But yeah the movie did fall short in that there was too much left out. And I don't simply mean scenes. Sure Hagrid's whole role in the movie was downplayed into 5 minutes. Sure Malfoy's role in the entire movie was half a scene.
But more importantly, emotion was lacking. For instance, Harry's relationship with Cho was really abridged and there seemed to be barely any romance between them other than a simple kiss. Also, I feel the loss Harry felt for Sirius was all too short, unlike in the previous where his loss for Cedric literally brought a tear to my eye. The director clearly decided that action took precedence over emotion in this sequel. But still, the movie was only 2 hours and 19 minutes. The books are getting longer and longer and so should the movies. :[

But you know what. I still absobarkinglutely loved the movie, hahahaa. Just read the books and watch the movies and you will complete. smile.gif

Also.. great addition to the already impeccable cast. Luna, Bellatrix, and even Umbridge were played brilliantly.

Damn.. Harry Potter brings out the hardcore geek in me.

Excellent movie!!!!
Yes. You guys are all correct. They DID leave out TONS of stuff and I was shocked at how short the scene with the loss of Sirius was. I think I shed a tear whilst reading it.... but I didn't feel too much watching it. There was no swamp, but the fireworks scene was incredible. I loved it.

((BTW, I was dressed in this uber awesome Harry Potter hoodie, the glasses with tape, and some huge ass black pants.... I totally got stared at hahaha. I was kind of let down that I was the only one who dressed out besides my gay friend..... >_>))

If it makes you feel better, there was only one person dressed up at the Midnight showing, and she was dressed up as a wand. So I'm sure your costume was MUCH better =P

Note the "Azkaban Prison" patch ahahaha. The hood is actually long and pointy like a wizard hat.

Not 'uber nerd' but certainly nerdy to some extend tongue.gif

I've seen people more obsessed with dressing up like HP than that is all. I mean, you simply weren't dressed like a Wand so you're fairly low on the HP nerd scale.

God. I mean, a wand isn't even a humanoid. I considered dressing as a Dementor, but the whole floating thing would have gotten annoying.

yeh i think it would be better the watch the movie, then read the book . coz the movies are absolute shit compared to the book, in terms of storyline at least.

ohmy.gif Oh dear, that's.... terrible. No offense but come on... 99% of the time the book is heaps better than the movie.

Yes, but I'm already bogged down in reading for my AP English classes, and sadly Harry Potter is/was not one of the books. sad.gif

It was a good MOVIE, but it did the book no justice at all. The whole thing just felt terribly...rushed when you knew what the book was like.

I knew I was setup for disappointment from the beginning as 'Order of the Phoenix" was my favorite of the books by a looooong shot.

Fair enough, but you are going to when you have a break right? Right??!
Really? I found it mostly just grated on my nerves to be honest... I wouldn't say it was bad, not at all, but it certainly isn't top 3.
Harry literally reminded me of Ian dry.gif The old Ian - the one who would burst out all flamey and angry at everyone tongue.gif It was uncanny how much Harry reminded me of old Ian XD

I felt it was going to be hella rushed from the very beginning scene with the dimentors. When i saw how fast they did it (Like 5 minutes) as compared to the book where i felt the suspense of the dimentors looming, i thought to myself, this whole movie is gonna feel like crap isnt it........and werent there more than 2 dimentors? and i dont remember a tunnel..

They always skip a shit load of stuff through the movie and always make the final fight scene excellent without leaving out a thing. The Graveyard scene in Goblet was spot on as i imagined it when i read the book. Same with this one.

No, there was only two... but it happened in an alleyway in the book, not a tunnel.

And the next book is globally released on the 21st of this month happy.gif

shiste, yeah... they left a barkload out of this one. but then again, it's the longest HP book!

another thing they forget to mention was a lot of the shit that went down in the house. they should've explained what the hell was up with Creature as well as the one horcrux they accidently find. they also left out the huge part about Harry throwing a fit because Umbridge banned him from Quuiditch, but truthfully, i had been starting to get tired of that game tongue.gif

I liked, but ya should know that a lot of people here on brazil don't know what respect is, so anyone could shut up .-. my luck was that the movie was subtitled(english audio, portuguese subtitle), but I feel sorry for my counsins, they're americans so I think that they couldn't get a word from the movie(they hear, they don't know portuguese too well to read XD), and my stupid friend was all the movie saying "I don't understand this part! Can you explain to me?" or "This movie is boring..." One time I said "Shut up dude, if you don't want to see the movie go away from the theater! Damn I want to see it" XD

But JKR said no, because he's important tongue.gif

Same. At least, in the book. He was really... bitchy, and always thought he was alone and misunderstood. Really, he exemplified an American teenager. Or any teenager, I guess. I didn't think of Ian when I read it, but now that I think about it, he fits almost exactly tongue.gif

Well, obviously. Kreacher is how voldemort learns so much. Wasn't there a point in HBP that Dumbledore explained that when Sirius said 'get out' Kreacher took it literally and went to the LeStranges'? I can't remember if I read that in a fanfic or if that was real.
