As we've seen, some people's signatures have become huge, unruly, chock-full of advertisements, and well, just annoying. Over the last week or so, the staff have been discussing what to do about it.

So, I proudly present, new signature restrictions!
  • A maximum of 2 signature images. One being no bigger than 550x250, the other no bigger than 550x100. You can't combine them for some massive signature either.
  • No more than 8 lines of text, at a reasonable size.
  • A quote/code box is allowed, but any text within counts towards the 8 lines.
  • Friend lists are not allowed.
  • There are to be absolutely no advertisements without staff consent.
  • Mild mature content is acceptable within reason, ADULT content however, is strictly prohibited.
  • NoFlAShiNG-BliNKING-1337SPEek-BuLlsHit.

However! Some people have noticed the change in the spoiler tags. Thanks to a nice addition from SLinky, our spoiler tags no longer cover text with colour, now they create a clickable box that shows/hides the spoiler. This can be used to hold an entire large signature/text/pics.

Pour example:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The only restriction with these is that while they can be added to a signature, the rest of the signature is limited to a single image (max 550x250), and 3 lines of text. Staff will also be vigilant with checking these spoiler links, so don't try to sneak anything inappropriate in them.

5 days are being given to change your signatures, after that, they will be removed WITHOUT NOTICE. Obviously, considerations will be made for people who haven't been here, their signatures will be placed in spoiler boxes. Any signatures that are changed after cleanup is done will be given a pm concerning them, 24 hours to be fixed, then, if necessary, manual removal and an official warn.

We hope that this will make the site easier on the eyes, while still allowing people the freedom to express themselves (within limits tongue.gif).

Peace out!

But... Tetiel's wall of text, and my wall of demanding someone to get a rust fork jammed up their....!!! We can't let these go! sad.gif

Edit: If anyone gets in trouble for my signature, it should be Kitsune, Sean (Especially this long haired freak, he called me a dork sad.gif), and whoever else messed with it. blink.gif

A lot of things on the board seem to hate me.... and sadly it isn't limited to board functions, lol.

I'll tell you how to fix it, give them a PM and 24 hours to change it. After that, anyone with it can receive a warning and it being removed. TADA!

Ok, I figured out what the sig spoiler problem is, I'll have to get it fixed. I'll update the news post when that happens.

If you were wondering, your sig on your first post will work, and subsequent posts won't have working spoiler sigs.

Hmm...they seem reasonable. smile.gif

I figured out that the only way to show a person's sig if it's under a spoiler tag is to click on the first post the person made in the topic. If you try to click the person's tag in a later post, it won't show. In other words, the 'spoiler/sig' only shows in the person's first post if you click on the tag. It doesn't bother me, just thought I would share tongue.gif

EDIT: Nevermind, Brad already said it in an edit to one of his posts tongue.gif

eh.. resonable, but still kinda sad to se some of the cool sigs like Tetiel's and Hawk's go.. they didn't bother me one little bit, and i actually enjoyed seing them around.. plus it's easier to identify people with them...

but ok what's done is done i guess... *reads everyone's siggy one last time*

I loved it. Mostly because I was in it. smile.gif
Anyway, no offense Brad, but this policy is crud. The spoiler boxes don't work, and if people don't like someone's signature they can just block it. I liked Tetiel's, Hawk's, and Ian's old signatures. Can we vote on this maybe?

They do work, but only on the person's first post on the page. A fix is being worked out.

Staff has all discussed it, and we pretty much unanimously decided that this was for the best happy.gif

Oh, and a select few people can decide what is best for the whole community? This regime sucks blink.gif We might be operating on different wavelengths now.

So far it seems like most people are against limiting the size of signatures, at least the text portion. I'm all for removing the ads, but what is wrong with a few lines of text? You just get used to scrolling over it, and if there is a significant change you will notice it.

What do you mean, attitude? Last time I checked this wasn't barking dictatorship Cuba. I'm entitled to have an opinion, and don't expect just because you make a rule that everyone's going to like it and kiss your ass.

Woah, calling the staff Cuba? Settle down. Its more like a regime they have going. There isn't one person who is in complete control. The staff "unanimously agreed", so that means the regime has spoken blink.gif
