Okies. My computer has little temp indicators on it. Right now it says my CPU is 25degrees C and it has been pretty constant from 25-27 degrees C. It also says my hardrive temp. When I first turned it on hard drive was like 24 degrees C, now after being on forabout 4 hrs it is 31.7 degrees C.

The Front of my case is cool from top to bottom. The sides are relatively cool, but as you go to the bottom , you can feel a little warmth. As you travel across the bottom tothe back, the warmth gets hotter. The back
(under the back fan) is very hot to the touch. I have my monitor plugged into my graphics card down there. The back of my previous computer never got this hot anywhere and I would leave it come for days at a time wacko.gif Do yall think this could create a problem? Is there something I need to do, or is it not really a problem?

25-27c on a CPU is ice cold
21c on a hardrive is cold

unless your video card is burning up, its not even close to being near a problem

My HD idles around 38C, CPU around 50C (up to 90C on 100%).

I'd say your temps are perfectly fine. tongue.gif

lol no need, like I said before, those temps are ICE COLD. They wont ever get any cooler than that, its actually so cold it may be an inaccurate reading, actually 80% sure its unaccurate.

24c idle would mean that your ambient room tempertures are about 60F (15c)

okies.. I downloaded some software to do more indepth reading.. Here are the results.

CPU: 26 C
SYSTEM 54 C
GPU1 89 C
GPU2 73 C

cpu fans 3068 RPM
nforce fans 4982 RPM

Dang.. I knew the graphics cards seemed really hot compared to the other areas.. but those temps aren't problems right ? I should also mention that I was even really doing anything and it was those temps.

If you ended up getting dual 8800's like you said, they run hot as hell. Really nothing you can do besides trying to install a better fan, but the will ALWAYS run hot, that's the only problem with them :'(

hot but not 89C tongue.gif

if they're 8800's, take off the heatsink and put AS5 on them, will drop it 10C or so

You'd be surprised actually. With the power that goes through them, the stock heatsink is absolutely nothing of what it should be doing.

Like Fatal said, take off the stock and put on an aftermarket thermal reducers on there =]

What are your graphics cards? I take it you're running SLI?

Full computer specs can help us out. I know I used to use Motherboard Monitor 5 (MBM5) because it was free, and it was great. Check if there is a new one and use that. Let us know the specs and we'll let you know what to do.

Also, include what case you have. You can always change your fan out with out that is better, or you can get a new case (Some of them with the fans included are like $150), assuming you are comfortable doing it.

mine runs 74-75C on LOAD so 89C idle would be insane

Guess I'm thinking of my 8800 Ultra. It idles at 69 =/

but it's on a stock heatsink.

Check your cables, a lot of heat could mean your card is getting too much power.

aftermarket thermal reducers? Is that what AS5 stands for? ermm.. any suggestions on what would fit and be a good match? Seriously having this computer on is like having a heater in my room.. It has my room warmer then every other part of the house wacko.gif

AS5 = Arctic Silver 5, its a thermal compound

850w... that means nothing. QUALITY of the power supply is what matters, a GOOD 500w will completely DESTORY a garbage 850w. Its probably not the problem what whateva

Oh .. I looked up the Arctic Silver.. Is it some type of goo that you put on the cards?

I think a problem could be that my air conditioner thing is like above the graphics cards. Everything above is getting cooled, but the graphics cards are just to themselves.

make sure its not venting directly on the parts, otherwise condensation will kill smile.gif

Try turning up the video card's fan, also use a different program to detect temperatures, like I said speedfan sucks and a lot of the time mislabels everything
