I have been trying to edit my Wheel of Medicrity Library thread but I keep getting this message

"There is an error with your BBCode. It is possible that you have incorrectly used a tag such as [TAG] when it is meant to be used as [TAG=] or vice-versa."

All I have been doing is copying and pasting the url''s from imageshack for the images. I can find the problem in the code and am confused as to why it let me edit it before of there was a problem with the code. Once I have chosen to edit the topic, whether I add something new to it or not it won't let me complete the edit unsure.gif

Any help would be appreciated. I would put the code up for you to see but it won't let me because of the problem.

Maybe you reached an [img] tag limit?

There's no problem with your image tags, they're correct, so I tried copying your post with another image tag added into it and received the same error you did. So I think Lawivido is right, you must have reached the maximum image limit.

Is there a way around the image limit?

The thing is...I have lots more images in my Random Events Library and that one seems fine.

You could try merging several images into one, that would cut down on the numbers of image tags needed.

So there is a limit?

I'm not sure the problem is the limit though. As I mentioned before....the topic I am having a problem with has way fewer images than another one of my guides.

Have you tried posting them outside of the spoiler tags? Perhaps there's a limit to how many you can have inside one of those?

There is a limit but if it was the limit that was being triggered, it would have given you a different error message I believe. Can I see the code you are trying to use? Put it in between code tags so it doesn't parse it as BBcode.

Thanks, sorry I hadn't checked my email for quite some time. Anyway, here's what I can see from it:
  • You had some missing spoiler tags and so some tags were left open.
  • Some tags were not closed properly.
  • There was a lot of url tags to imageshack.us which you really don't need so I took those out.
  • There was a random </div> in there... blink.gif so I took that out too. I think this is caused by some bug in the board actually since I've gotten it before.

Anyway, I fixed up the code, and here is the result:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Here it is in code tags incase you want to copy and paste it:

Thanks tongue.gif

I really appreciate it. I did wonder what the random </div> was. I tried taking it out as I thought that was the problem....it would seem there were a few more problems though.

Why did it let me complete previous edits if there were problems though?

I'm not sure but it seems that you also had some unclosed tags. I can't seem to find it but in previous versions of IPB, there was a close open tags button tongue.gif.

Which editor are you using? Rich text or plain text?

Yeah I'm not sure what is causing it but try your best tongue.gif.

By the way, you can use the rich text one to have it be like MS Word where you see the bolding and italicizing right away tongue.gif.

Btw, I've noticed that when I get the </div> thing, if you replace it with [/ center] (or whichever alignment you're using), it usually works. biggrin.gif For some reason it loses the closing alignment tag.

Is it only the [/ center] alignment tag you have noticed it with?

Perhaps it will go away when we upgrade to 2.3.4 tongue.gif.

Yep, it seems to replace the [/ center] that should be there with </div>, and it's only ever the very last [/ center] in the post/signature in my experience. No idea why...

Probably just a bug. It's interesting because the [/ center] tag is a part of the IPB core which IPS implemented. Usually they don't have such serious bugs.

Hopefully it will go away in the upgrade smile.gif.

When editing my topic here, I added in the spoiler tag to contain the old version... everytime I try editing it now, I get the </div> showing up instead of the closing center tag.
It didn't happen before adding the spoiler tags, so perhaps it's something to do with them.

I believe laser said it was only on the last center closing tag so just replace that with [/ center] and you should be good?
