So I'm about 99% sure I have chemical burn on my scalp sad.gif

I went and had a relaxer put on my hair today to make it straight. It worked great, but theres two spots on my scalp that hurt like a bitch, and are oozing this gunk into my hair slowly but surely. They also hurt when touched by water/shampoo as I just found out. Anyone know how to make that gunk stop excreeting from my cranium?

boo@chemical burn =(

you probably didn't mix the ingredients right... don't most relaxers have LYE in it? if so, then yeah, you just burned the fuck out of your scalp and you'll have scarring.

ever see Fight Club?

oh shit, i just broke the first rule doh.gif

If you have a chemical burn, that is the first sign to go to a doctor. Unless you're positive the chemical isn't hazardous, I would really urge you to seek some medical attention.

Also, ooze is NEVER good. That could be (ew) puss, which could be a sign of infection. Get that checked out ASAP.

Well, from what I gather, she didn't do it herself, but rather a "professional".

And no matter the cause, if you have oozing sores (I am assuming sores is appropriate?), you have the problem of the actual sores, and then the potential of infection. Or something like that.

Doctor, pl0x.

Like me you're probably not a big fan of going to the doctor everytime something goes wrong. If it hurts alot I would shave my head to get a better look. Otherwise I'd stay home and not shower for a week and see if it gets better.

Well like everyone else says, see a doc. Leaky sores are never a good sign. ninja.gif

((I've always wanted to get a chemical straightener put in my hair to make it straight all the time.. But... ehh.. not anymore...sad.gif ))

Hmmm.. as the others said you should be at the hospital now. If it IS a burn and it is oozing it's gotta be at least second degree and possibly (I hope not) third. Fortunately it's on your head so if it scars well... no appearance problems, eh? But it's a severe risk for infection. What happens is the epidermis melts off so you're leaving your blood vessels, nerves, and lymph exposed. What's leaking right now is probably water from your body as there's no way to hold it in anymore. It's probably small so it's not serious but go to the doctor as soon as you possibly can. If you haven't already go NOW. The problem is you have no real defense against infection right now so if you get one you'll be in a real world of hurt so a hospital would actually rather have you now than later. Think about it that way wink.gif

I haven't went to the doctor unsure.gif

It's not like a gaping wound that's oozing out puss, it's just my scalp is red in parts, and oozing pus, not noticeably, but you can tell because its making those parts of my hair all crusty.

Unfortunatly, I don't have a car to go to the doctor today D: I'm hoping that tomorrow when I shower it will be all better, if not then I will probably go to the ER. Thank you all for your responses, I probably wouldn't have gone to the doctor at all otherwise XD

And Brooke, as long as you get someone good this wouldn't normally be a problem. The ho that did it put in on my scalp to get my roots, and they usually have this liquid stuff that you can put on it to stop chemical burn from happening, but the bottle was empty, so it was just burning =(

blink.gif jeebus. I mean she could seriously get in some trouble. Was it a salon you went to? Get her bitch ass fired!! There is NO WAY she should have sent you home without doing that, you know? It's like buy a new bottle somewhere or something. I mean... as much as I hate suing she could be sued easily if you got seriously hurt. And if it's only little sores I guess it's alright. I was under the impression that they were quarter size or something.

Hehe, nope.. little sores. I washed my hair this morning. It seems they've stopped oozing, but they were last night so my hair was all yucky. I will find out later today if they are still oozing XD

I plan on picking up some medicated shampoos, anyone know of any/where to get them?

EDIT: 300th post =O wheeee
