Welcome to staff. =)

...That's what private is. That's what retired is. Adding more and more ( without benefit ) is just so pointless.

No it isn't. You get people to stay then. Because new members get attacked alot if they even post something close to stupid then they just leave. If you give them something close to work for you'd have a better chance of them sticking around.

Question: Do you think a forum that didn't count posts would work?

The forum would had to offer something amazingly good, since post count and the awards that come with high counts often inspire people to post more. tongue.gif

Changed my mind. I don't feel inspired to post anymore because I have no rank to aim for. I want a 7k rank, and an 8k rank, and a 9k rank, then at 10k I want a really really super spiffy pretty tag because it'll mean oh-so much. Oh yes.

And I want my 2x 100 post day tag. dry.gif

Here is an idea- Scrap all ranks except staff and the teams, except they won't be "official" ranks.

Then let the programmers decide, on an individual basis, if they want to allow people to use their stuff, and if so, which programs. >:)

It's a dumbass idea. Not even worthy of stupid. It's a dumbass idea.

NOTHING will be achieved. I'll be honest, I'll still view them as being "n00bz", no matter the rank. I don't even care about the "private member" rank. None of it proves anything. All these ranks are is to show who spams the most, and show who won a popularity contest.

^ Pretty much sums it up, especially the popularity contest deal.

Well, you see here, you haven't told us who has and who has not voted which direction. If you were to release the poll results, and the names that went with each vote, I'd like to see who voted which way.

I mean, lets get real here, the only people who really care are those who will probably never get enough friends to make private and the ones who won't remain active. Until I get names I think this is a moot point.

Hab- For most people, it isn't. tongue.gif

Freakout0- So? At your rate it would only take 20 years to get 500 posts. Is that my fault? Nope. It either shows that you don't have any time, in which case you shouldn't be on Codex, or you don't care enough to stop by for 5 minutes a day and make one post. I think you'd be over 500 now if you'd posted ONCE per day for the past year and a half.

Exactly this. The poll was very close between keeping it the same and changing it, and changing it is keeping the newer members happy only, and not only that, but the newer members who clearly aren't that bothered about properly intergrating themselves into the community, as we already have private for that, for which there is no post limit. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for keeping the new members happy, but the way I see it the sort of new members we want to keep around are the sort that don't see 500 posts as a ridiculous aim.

And this site doesn't value post count, nothing changes for members at 1k, why give them a tag when it's just a meaningless display of colours anyway? The only reason anyone would want a tag at 1k is to show off to others that they got 1k, and anyone that matters doesn't care anyway in fairness =/.

Mix of members, 17-18 were member rank, the rest were private/staff I think.

Personally i feel this is a stupid idea, Anything based on post count is retarded, Why would you encourage members to spam? i mean come on, if they wanted to stay here, then they will get 1000 posts regardless of there rank.

I saw 500 as a ridiculous aim. Especially since I didn't know anyone and didn't know what to post. tongue.gif So you're saying you don't wanna keep me? unsure.gif

I think whingeing about it is daft.

Does it affect you in any way, if you're one of the ones opposing it? Not really.
So what does it matter?

Actually, it does affect me. tongue.gif So it does matter. I also think the opinions of higher ranking members, not staff, should count more than your regular member who has a PPD of .07. 1we8.gif

Validating, Member, Advanced, Private, Retired, teams, staff and events. That looks to be about a perfect system right there.

I don't know what half of the ranks do as it is now, we don't need to be adding any more.
