That's unsettling.
Well, maybe I'll invest in a new PSU as well.

This man speaks the truth!

Graphics cards do strange things when not supplied with enough power. Your PSU is likely to die long before your video card, especially if you're not overclocking it.

I honestly can't see how you can run a semi-modern PC (or for that matter, an 8 series card) on 350w. My 8800GT requires something stupidly horrendous like 500w, and I bought an 850w just to be sure. You really should have checked the PSU before spending money on that video card - if it is the PSU, you've wasted quite a bit of money.

A Dell Technician would not have advised me to buy a new card simply because he thought it might help. Sorry, I'm going to trust a trained PC Technician rather than kids from the internet.

You say that about every company that's brought up. They're reliable - just because they're a corporation doesn't give you the right to pass absurd judgment on them.

Again, they know more than you about my situation, thus, I trust them more.
Just because you program on a Neopets website, does not make you better than corporate PC tech.

You might need to get a new PSU anyway if you're getting a new graphics card to deal with the extra power needed by modern cards...good job they're fairly cheap though.

No I don't. Stop being an irrational twat.

You made this thread, asked US for help, then told us how wrong we all were. Then you proceeded to tell us how much better Dell's support is, which most tech-savvy users have had nothing but bad experiences with. Most of their "certified techs" are low-wage phone jockeys who are paid to read off a flowchart.

Yeah I know I always had to fix my grandpa's computer because Dell's phone support was so incompetent. It took me almost a full 24 hours over many days to even get an RMA for my laptop, because I knew it had a dead motherboard, and they didn't believe me. Good luck though Urban
