Virus Scanners

I decided to make an official virus scanner thread so people would stop making threads like "HeLp KeLlOgGeR!!!" Or "ViRuS!!!” So if anyone needs help removing a virus they can come to this thread and seek help from others.

In addition I was thinking we could make a virus scanner list so if someone needs to know some names of good virus scanners they can run through the list and find some they like.

WARNING: Never get Norton Anti-Virus. It sticks on to your computer. The only thing I have succesfully removed it with is MoveOnBoot.

are you sure these are legit and won't put a virus on my computer?

For virus scanners, just go with the ones you trust. Generally, if you don't do anything weird on your computer you won't get terrible viruses tongue.gif. Good that you are a little paranoid though but don't be so paranoid that you dont have fun on the Internet tongue.gif.

That's not it. I'm just saying that there is a commercial on TV saying to download this thingy (a virus remover) and it cleans your computer. When in fact, it just puts another virus there. So I dunno. Do you know if any of those links are trust worthy? My computer has been going kinda slow lately, so I need a good one to help me clean it up...

Get: Spyware Blaster, AVG, Lavasoft, Spybot S&D

They're all in the list and you'll never get a virus or spyware with those. You may also want to look into the free symantec stuff (not Norton).

I love Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free, not too heavy, updates regularly, and pretty quick to detect most issues.

Plus I hate Norton because it is almost as annoying as the viruses it tries to clean and Nod32 didn't detect the virus that messed up my old computer. Posted Image

This is from 2008, so I might watch out, a lot of these could and very well probably are outdated, so they won't detect and stop newer viruses.
