Ok, I put this in the debate cause some people believe this and some people don't believe in this. I don't know where I fall, so I'm hoping one of your statements will help me choose. I've went through about half of Nostradamus 2012 "end of the world, or something really bad is going to happen" show on History Channel (not really what its called, but I'm lazy and don't wanna go look on my TV tongue.gif). First let me state, that watching even half that program scared the hell out of me. Apparently, all the old tribes/old cultures predicted that on December 21st, 2012 the sun was going to align with the milky way and (from what I understood) was going to severly hurt our planet earth, not only as a whole, but also wreck everything we take advantage of now. A part of me thinks that if this was going to be a major issue that the scientists of today would have figured it out and we would have started preparing for this for quite awhile, but then apart of me wonders how many different civilaztions could come up with one unform date (to my knowledge they were all pretty far apart in time and distance) Could people from long ago know something like this is going to happen? Don't know. The Myans stated that this "event" happens once every 26,000 years and on Dec 21st, 2012 thats supposed to be when it happens again. There is a lot more information I left out cause I'm sure no one wants to read a novel and I sure as hell don't wanna write one. lol. If I'm wrong about a few things, I apologize, please enlighten me. Anyway, if you could please post your opinions, thoughts, whatever else you can think of on here, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Well, if something "hypothetically" happens, we're screwed anyways. At least I'll have my degree by then so I can enjoy a year of having it. tongue.gif

What I was thinking was the world probably won't blow up...but if there is such a sizable event it could throw people into rioting etc, that in turn could fuck up quite a few things. Just didn't know if there was ANY truth to this...and I'm glad you'd have your degree tongue.gif lol

Nostradamus was vague, allowing his prophecies to be loosely interpreted.

And the Mayan calendar ended... So does the one hanging in my kitchen... once a year. blink.gif No end of the world then.

I don't believe in this.
Who says our calenders are even on the same rates as theirs.

I won't believe anything until this so called "3 days of darkness" starts.
Then maybe I'll get skeptical.

I need hardcore proof to believe in anything, really.

They aren't on the same rates... They've been translated and converted.

As far as my opinion is concerned, no I don't believe in this. And I do have some faith in our kind, that we could come up with some sort of solution.

It's a crock of shit. Same as all other prophecies.

Also, the Sun can't "align with the Milky Way". It's -in- the Milky Way.

Yeah, I agree that it is very vague, which is why I wanted to see what other people thought. Apparently they had found some "lost book" of his that has a bunch of drawings that all lead to the date 12/21/12

I didn't hear any of that, it was like things were supposed to start failing, our economy, weather, crops, the stuff we depend on etc. One guy stated that this is already happening and it'll just get worse. *shrug*

It's nothing to do with the sun aligning with the Milky Way, it's something to do with the centre of the galaxy and the zodiac or some bollocks like that.

Nothing is going to happen, just like it didn't on Jan 1st 2000. tongue.gif

Wat. Dinosaur extinction is nothing at all like a completely unfounded Mayan prophecy. And I'd imagine if aliens would live on earth they wouldn't be aliens. If that makes sense. I'm tired and your post lacks logic. Good night
