Not really. The 8800 gtx is runs idel at around 60 and under load at 80. The 9800/260/280/295 all get hotter. Also typically Nvidia is cooler then ATI. The temps he listed where more then normal they where actually cooler then normal.

Oh wow, high idles. I assumed temperatures for videocards would not have that much variance. My 8600gt idles at like >40 and is mid 60s at full load.

Could also be a faulty PSU.

Could truly be almost any part

ram, video card, motherboard, PSU, corrupt OS, overheating CPU, virus


Any of those could cause random reboots....

Even 8800GT's are safe up to 100C on load and can easily hit 70-80c even with the fan at 100%.
My GT is idling at 74c right now with the fan on auto...

An 8600 is a low/mid performance card that doesn't push out too much heat.
