That being said, let's jump right into the basic description of how the balls function and how you'll use them for scoring:
The Big 4: Normal Ball, Fire Ball, Ice Ball, Timebomb Ball
All of these function pretty much the same way: shooting in a straight line. We'll jump right into the demonstration.
Hope you caught that. It's on the test.
But in all honesty, those are the shots you'll be making over and over again over the next couple of weeks.
Now the trickiest these straight-shooters is the Ice Ball. You have to close the gap between you and the Goalie, and that decreases the odds that your shot falls between the Goalie and the goal... so this one can really ruin your day. But if you have any doubts that the same approach still works, here's two demonstrations involving the Ice Balls:
Now... ESPECIALLY if you're using the Ice Ball, you have a decent chance of missing. If you're prepared, you can always turn things around with a little maneuver like this:
Nifty, huh?
Okay, so in summation:
Normal Ball: You'll get used to it
Fire Ball: Travels faster, can shoot from farther, you'll love it
Ice Ball: Travels slower, have to get in close, it can ruin your rhythm
Timebomb Ball: Travels slower, goes off shortly after it enters play, you only get 1 or 2 shots with this one, you'll be indifferent to this one
If you're unprepared for it, the Darigan ball goes exactly where you don't want it to. It travels literally the opposite direction of where you shoot it. If you shoot it down at a 45 degree angle, it will go up at a 45 degree angle, and vice versa. This is one that is best seen in action.
This one's not too bad when you get the hang of it, and the goalie almost never expects it, so it's pretty good when you get the hang of it.
The Good Ball: The Faerie Ball
This one will make your brain pulse with frustration if you don't know how to use it properly. If it is shot in the top half of the court, it will curve in a clockwise direction, and vice versa for the bottom half. Luckily, if you run right up to the goalie, the curvature carries it right around and into the goal.
A video on how easy a faerie shot can be:
You'll like that one when you master that shot. It can be easier than a regular Yooyu.
The Rogue Ball: The Mutant Ball
This one is HORRIBLY unpredictable. No video can prepare you for this one. Just take your chances and hope it goes straight. This one behaves like ANY BALL at ANY TIME.
If it behaves like a faerie now, it could behave like a fire ball the very next shot. With this one, you just have to line up a shot and hope for the best. If it fails, line it up again and try again.
I always treat it like an Ice Ball because there's about a 50% chance it will behave like Fire or Ice... but be prepared to chase it down when it acts like a Faerie or Darigan Ball.
I'm Scoring Goals... Now What?
Fine tune your game... if your players start getting in your way, just press shift to tell them to move to starting positions.
If you're waiting for the "Goal Shot" and "Launch Sequence" to finish, just press space at either or both to skip them. This saves you about 5-10 seconds of real time, but the game still ticks off 7 seconds of game time.
